Summary

Dignitas is seeking a creative and detail-oriented Instructional Systems Designer (ISD) to join our team and contribute to the design and development of engaging, interactive learning solutions that are both instructionally sound and visually captivating. As an ISD, you'll play a key role in supporting a high-visibility Navy contract, ensuring that learning solutions meet client needs while promoting effective knowledge transfer. This position will support the Navy and their mission in the development of training applications and training of fleet sailors. The Senior Instructional Designer will collaborate with the Product Development and Content teams to update, maintain, and create training applications aligned with the US Navy's curriculum design principles.

Essential Functions

The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for graphics and web-based training (WBT) design, thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, and bring fresh ideas to each project. You will collaborate with a team of talented System and Software Engineers to craft innovative learning experiences that enhance the overall curriculum, ensuring that every deliverable supports both learner engagement and learning outcomes. The candidate's primary duties and responsibilities include:

  • Design and develop new iterations of U.S. Navy training applications.
  • Work with the development and content teams in the implementation of a comprehensive instructional mapping strategy and processes, ensuring regular updates and maintenance.
  • Collaborate with other team members to refine work processes, solve problems, and ensure timely completion of deliverables.
  • Design and develop instructional material for online and distance delivery
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to identify target audience's training needs
  • Utilize various instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE) to create engaging learning activities
  • Develop assessments and exercises to enhance the learning process
  • Ensure content is accurate, up-to-date, and aligned with learning objectives
  • Incorporate multimedia elements into training materials for enhanced learner engagement
  • Preparing reports and documentation for leadership
  • Perform obsolescence evaluation and assist with finding solutions/replacements

This is a fast-growing program with opportunity for growth and advancement. While the opportunity for hybrid work is available, candidates need to be able to travel to attend meetings, complete in office and test site work as required in Dahlgren, VA area.

Desired Skills and Requirements

  • Five (5) years of experience in training analysis, learning intervention design/development, content presentation using a variety of modalities/media, and measurable assessment development/implementation.
  • Excellent understanding of adult learning and best practices in e-learning.
  • Design and develop WBT materials, including training plans, storyboards, narrative scripts, graphics, assessments, and practical exercises.
  • Partner with subject matter experts (SMEs) to translate client business requirements into learning objectives and solutions.
  • Create and manage all phases of course development, from analysis and design to development and delivery, including eLearning modules, instructor guides, job aids, and multimedia content.
  • Apply adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies to ensure content is pedagogically effective and meets learner needs.
  • Use graphic design tools and multimedia techniques to produce interactive course materials that maximize learner engagement and retention.
  • Provide guidance on multimedia platforms and learning management systems (LMS), offering recommendations for optimizing design for international audiences.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest design tools, technologies, and best practices to continuously improve course materials and learning experiences.
  • Excellent written communication skills with a keen eye for detail in proofreading content
  • Excellent ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner

Required Education and Experience

Bachelors with a focus on instructional design or equivalent experience

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

Ability to obtain a Security Clearance

Must be a US Citizen
