POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the general supervision of the Corporate Director of Quality, and the direct supervision of the Plant Manager, the Quality Manager plans, coordinates, and directs the Quality Assurance Program designed to ensure continuous production of products consistent with established standards and customer requirements.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:



  • Represents the Plant Manager in his absence on current production concerns.
  • Develops and maintains a process control system that tracks and analyzes statistical data and product specifications to determine present standards and establish proposed quality and reliability expectancy of finished product to meet customer requirements.
  • Formulates and maintains quality assurance objectives per ISO/TS16949 and ISO14001. Also works in cooperation with the Plant Manager to establish and maintain an environment that promotes continuous improvement in quality and productivity.
  • Directs through intermediate personnel, workers engaged in inspections and testing activities to ensure continuous control over material and products.
  • Maintains a review system of the nonconforming material area to reduce quantity and obtain expedient turn around.
  • Develops and maintains a system for supplier product quality audits to ensure all suppliers meet or exceed our quality requirements, track and report where necessary. This includes driving supplier improvement and development.
  • Interfaces with the customer and represents the company with regard to customer issues and at regularly scheduled visits.
  • Initiates action to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformity relating to product, process, and quality systems.
  • Identifies and records any problems relating to product, process, and quality systems.
  • Meets with suppliers, customers, and company personnel to discuss and resolve quality issues as required.
  • Prepares for and represents the Company during all ISO/TS16949 and ISO14001, and/or similar and related audits.
  • Represents the needs of the customer in internal functions in addressing ISO/TS16949 and ISO14001 requirements for setting quality objectives.
  • Ensures all sample submissions are correct and on time per customer requirements.
  • Prepares all necessary reports as required by customers and staff personnel.
  • Plans, promotes, and organizes training activities related to product quality and reliability, and for the development of all quality personnel.
  • Follows up on customer concerns using appropriate reporting, and ensure corrective action is designed and implemented with all necessary documentation.
  • Has the authority to stop production operations, concerning plant quality or safety issues.
  • Serves in the EMS/ISO 14001 management rep position. Responsibilities include communication, MOS reporting, and general management.
  • Treats all other team members with respect and dignity.

  • JOB QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:



    1. Four (4) year college degree in engineering or business related field, or equivalent work experience.
    2. Must have a good understanding of advance quality planning disciplines.
    3. Working knowledge on manufacturing processes and environment.
    4. Prefer four (4) years minimum experience in a quality management position in the automotive industry.
    5. ASQ Certification (CQM, CQE, or CQA) preferred.
