Job Overview

The Senior Mechanic HVAC performs scheduled and on-demand maintenance activities for all HVAC including patient related equipment and related systems to ensure maximum effectiveness, efficiency, and reliability of all HVAC and related equipment and systems. The Senior Mechanic works closely with the Building Automated System (BAS) controls team to achieve maximum efficiency from HVAC equipment.

Qualifications
  • EDUCATION - High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • EXPERIENCE - Five (5) years healthcare, industrial or commercial HVAC experience.
  • EQUIVALENCY - HVAC Associate Degree will substitute for a Certification for HVAC
  • CERTIFICATION(S) - Universal CFC certificate. Certification for Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, (HVAC)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.

  • Performs on-demand electrical, plumbing, carpentry, critical HVAC, safety, and other miscellaneous maintenance duties.
  • In the event of a critical patient related equipment failure, troubleshoots and diagnoses the problem and takes corrective action to fix the piece of equipment.
  • Keeps track of all preventative, scheduled, equipment failures within the preventative maintenance program to begin to set trends and history on equipment and warranty compliance. Includes but not limited to completing Risk Assessments, Pre-Interim Life Safety Measures (Pre-ILSM), and full ILSM's if system failure calls for such action.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs variable-frequency drives (VFD's), motor controls, electric motors, pneumatics and clean steam generators.
  • Maintains safe and clean machine rooms, as assigned by the manager, to minimize work place injuries.
  • Observes, documents and ensures preventative maintenance for peak operational efficiency of all HVAC equipment and systems as assigned by manager to minimize system failure and time off-line.
  • To ensure accurate record keeping for all scheduled and on-demand work activity including inventory, work order, and parts processing. Documentation will be maintained in accordance to established protocol and in accordance with The Joint Commission and all regulatory requirements related to all CHCO locations
  • To ensures consistent, accurate, and professional communication with all hospital staff, customers, and outside vendors/contractors.

Work is reviewed for adherence to instructions, accuracy, completeness, and conformance to standard practice or precedent. Recurring work clearly covered by guidelines may or may not be reviewed.

Salary Information
Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.

Hourly Range: $29.75 to $44.63
