Title: Program Assistant

$19.76 - $27.97 / Posted Thru: 3-10-25

Location: In-Person - Lansing, MI Office

Purpose: To provide support in a high-volume production environment with daily deadlines to meet Service Level Agreements (SLA) and metrics.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Handle and process incoming mail for DHHS agency, prepare documents for scanning and data entry.
  • Process daily production output according to written instructions for distribution.
  • Perform data edit of Medicaid claim forms and claim forms for Child Foster Care.
  • Scan documents as assigned.
  • Perform data entry functions for DHHS.
  • Organize documents for scanning.
  • Make copies of receipts or other documents for scanning.
  • Prep documents and give to scanning operators.
  • Perform daily production output distribution task ensuring reports are ready for deliveries daily basis.
  • Use desktop scanners to image documents.
  • Verify the quality of scanned images and accuracy of batch information.
  • Organize and label scanned images for document retention.
  • Open and sort mail that is delivered every morning from post office.
  • Using mail opening machines, open mail envelops to retrieve documents.
  • Sort mail per instructions and the priority of documents.
  • Key and verify claims documents from images.
  • Always represent the best interests of MDHHS and MPHI.
  • Other related clerical duties as assigned.


Qualifications/Requirements:

Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Experience: No specific type or amount of experience is required.

Important Skills and Characteristics:



  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office- Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Self-motivated- able to complete work in a timely manner and work on multiple tasks at one time with competing deadlines.
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Highly organized.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain the highest confidentiality and privacy standards.



Work Environment and Physical Requirements: This is an in-office position, located at 515 Westshire Dr. Lansing, MI 48917. This position will require viewing a CRT or VDT screen 25% to 75% of the time. Occasional physical effort, including lifting materials and equipment up to 25 pounds.



RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE WORK OF OTHERS: No assigned responsibility.

IMPACT ON PROJECTS, SERVICES AND OPERATIONS: This position has a direct impact on the quality of services provided by MPHI to MDHHS.
