Job Overview:

Data Analytics Specialists are responsible for extracting, analyzing, validating, and reporting data. Specialists utilize complex queries and analytics in SQL, SAS, Tableau, and other languages or platforms to obtain statistical data and develop reports.

The Data Analytics Specialists evaluate data to determine significant patterns and trends and then present and explain these findings to both lay and expert stakeholders. They provide data and analytics services to multiple business units as well as stakeholders beyond the agency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct advanced data queries, data cleaning, data aggregations, dashboard preparation and maintenance; running quality checking, and delivering routine reports; and running and delivering ad hoc requests using statistical and data software analytical programs (SAS, SQL, Python, and or Tableau).
  • Perform descriptive, predictive, and inferential statistical analyses, and provide thorough documentation of projects and processes.
  • Comply with regulations and mandates for data privacy requirements, and complete data request projects in a timely manner. Engage in regular contact with stakeholders such as data leads and department representatives to provide expertise and guidance.
  • Maintain relations and communicates with internal and external business users, vendors, and/or stakeholders to explain data reports and analyses.
  • Primary communication centers around clarifying data values or parameters used for the analysis.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in a quantitative or related discipline (i.e., statistics, applied statistics, mathematics, biostatistics, economics, epidemiology, computer science, social or behavioral sciences, health sciences, business, business administration, public administration, public policy, or other related field)

OR

  • 4 years of relevant professional work experience

OR

  • a combination of years of relevant college coursework and years of relevant professional work experience totaling four.
