Job Purpose
Lead Production team operational management through application of problem solving, continuous improvement and associate mentoring/development, in alignment with efficient production, new model introduction, business plan implementation and innovation to achieve or exceed targets that promote associate success.
Key Accountabilities
- Manage internal/external requests to allow the production team to focus on core responsibilities and avoid distractions.
- Manage required organizational resources (manpower, structure, budget) necessary to achieve operational expectations.
- Continuous development of self, colleagues and team through training and mentoring to proactively improve areas of management expertise for personal and team growth.
- Evaluate and ensure management of critical production issues (wrong/short parts, manpower shortage, Potential Problem Analysis (PPA )/repairs, down time, etc.) for allocation of resources and appropriate action is taken in a timely manner.
- Evaluate and assess concerns identified by team to help or guide them to address or correct and resolve issues utilizing high speed Plan Do Check Act (PDCA).
- Create and ensure department guidelines/policies/procedures are consistently managed to ensure associate expectations are clearly understood.
- Lead and/or actively participate in department initiatives such as Business Plan (BP), Fundamental Structural Innovation (FSI), Monozukuri (Mono-Z), to gain or share knowledge, promote continuous improvement and foster engagement for the department.
- Monitor daily Safety Environment Quality Delivery Cost Morale (SEQDCM)conditions by reviewing daily reports to manage department outflow (reports, contain, repair).
- Collaborate in the development of new technologies or model introductions to improve production characteristics and ensure voice of the floor is heard.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
- Minimum Educational Qualifications
- Minimum Experience
- 10+ years production experience

- Understanding Intentional Development Purpose
- Dealing with conflict and empowerment to escalate (Consensus building skills)
- Crisis management (PPA development) within production areas
- Knowledge of Honda / Japanese culture and terminology
- Business Plan Knowledge
- Nonconforming procedure - Knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS)
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Developing & Reporting Delivery Metrics (Cycle Time, Process Cycle Time, Prod Loss Plan) within production areas
- Cost Reporting (Engine Quality (EQ), Investment, Expense, Start-up, Manpower) within production areas
- Demonstrated knowledge of the SEQCDM guidelines/requirements within production areas
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage team dynamics within production areas
- Effectively develop team capabilities
Workstyle
- Will require standing for long durations of time
- Able to work in a fast pace production area
- Able to work in an environment with varying temperatures
- Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs.
- 0-15% travel requirement for training and offsite support/meetings as needed
- Daily, weekly, weekend and holiday overtime is required and will vary
- Able to work varying/rotating shifts for extended periods of time if requested
- Ability to perform production line work and work online as needed
