Overview:

METI is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to support our contract with the Weapons Survivability Laboratory (WSL) and will be responsible for performing engineering duties related to the planning and design of tools, engines, machines, and other mechanically functioning equipment. This role includes overseeing the installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment associated with military aircraft systems and military aircraft support systems. Additionally, the engineer will support aircraft and weapons testing at the WSL, ensuring the successful execution of test engineering duties. This position is contingent upon contract award.

Duties:



  • Design and develop tools, engines, machines, and other mechanically functioning equipment.
  • Oversee the installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical systems related to military aircraft and support systems.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and assessments of mechanical components and systems.
  • Support test engineering activities for aircraft and weapons testing at the WSL.
  • Analyze system performance and provide recommendations for improvements or modifications.
  • Ensure compliance with engineering standards, military specifications, and safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the development and integration of mechanical systems.
  • Prepare technical reports and documentation related to engineering designs, test results, and maintenance procedures.



Qualifications:



  • 3-10 years of relevant experience is required.
  • A Bachelor's degree within at least one of the following subjects: Electrical/Electronic engineer, Computer Engineer, Computer Science, Mechanical engineer, Physicist, or Systems Engineer. An *Associate's degree plus 6 years' additional work experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
  • Experience in mechanical engineering design, installation, maintenance, and repair, preferably with military aircraft systems or support systems.
  • Knowledge of mechanical principles, engineering standards, and military specifications.
  • Experience with test engineering, particularly in aircraft and weapons testing environments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess system performance and recommend improvements.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and compliance requirements for military systems.
  • Strong communication skills for preparing technical reports and documentation.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, if required
