Appian Software Developer

BigBear.ai is seeking a Appian Software Developer in the National Capital Region (Greater DC Metro Area) to support one of our Army customers. This candidate will work closely with a cross-functional agile team to implement Appian solutions as part of a transaction management and reporting system.

This is a hybrid position that will require 40% remote and 60% onsite work in Chantilly, VA

• Work with other Appian developers to deliver a solution using a combination of record types, interfaces, process models, CDTs, expression rules, reports, etc.

• Recommend and implement in Appian robust interfaces and backend capabilities that support complex business processes.

• Communicate effectively and efficiently the pros/cons of a technical approach to both technical and non-technical staff.

• Advocate on behalf of the end user -- look for opportunities to improve workflow, reduce work, and capture data more efficiently.

• Integrate into the solution feedback from the customer and the team.

• Turn wireframes, mockups, and prototypes into functioning software. Identify situations where interface designs are not clear or are awkward.

• Work closely with Business Analysts to design conceptual workflows and related actions to support the customer's vision within the solution.

• Provide guidance to Business Analysts regarding the implementation complexity of their designs to aid the customer in deciding which approach to pursue from a cost/benefit perspective.

• Demonstrate your work periodically to the team as you complete it.

• Participate in all Agile-based ceremonies, to include assisting the team with story point estimation and backlog refinement.

• Execute unit tests and integration tests against your changes.

• Assist with the testing effort following all Appian upgrades.

• Check code into a DevSecOps pipeline to promote Appian objects/packages to a higher tier.

• Ensure project deliverables meet team/customer quality standards, functional/non-functional requirements, and Acceptance Criteria.

• Support the remediation of issues that arise in non-development environments.

• Work with Business Analysts to get ahead of feature development and establish a framework for future enhancements.

• Identify opportunities to refactor interfaces, expressions rules, etc. and address technical debt in an ongoing basis.

• Stay up to date on the latest Appian releases and their offerings. Work with the team to eliminate/replace deprecated Appian features.

• Work with Cybersecurity Specialists to ensure the solution is secure.

• Clearance: Must possess and maintain a SECRET clearance.

• Bachelor's degree (or higher) in computer science, Math, or Engineering

• At least one year of Appian development experience

• Appian Associate Developer certification or higher

• Strong analytical skills

• Strong verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and an ability to follow-up in a timely manner.

• The ability to turn written and verbal requirements into process flows and interfaces.

• A Security+ certification

• Working knowledge of the Agile Scrum methodology.

• Prior experience working on a Federal Government, Army or DoD program.
