Summary of Job Duties:The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Comprehensive Ophthalmologist to join our team as an Assistant Professor in the College of Health Profession. This role involves diagnosing and treating a wide range of eye disorders while providing exceptional primary eye care to patients. The ideal candidate will have expertise in performing comprehensive eye exams, prescribing corrective lenses, conducting eye surgeries, and managing various eye diseases. Qualifications:
  • Medical degree in Ophthalmology from an accredited institution.

  • State licensure to practice as an Ophthalmologist.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Specialized training and expertise in eye anatomy, function, and disease management.

  • Strong diagnostic and surgical skills.

  • Excellent communication and patient-care skills.

Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

  • Eye Exams: Conduct thorough eye examinations, including visual field testing, slit lamp evaluations, and tonometry.

  • Vision Correction: Prescribe eyeglasses and contact lenses for vision correction.

  • Eye Surgery: Perform surgeries to correct eye conditions such as cataracts and eye injuries.

  • Disease Management: Diagnose and treat eye diseases, including glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic eye disease.

  • Medication Prescription: Prescribe appropriate oral and topical medications for eye conditions.

  • Patient Education: Provide guidance on proper eye care and maintain accurate medical histories.

  • Referrals: Coordinate referrals to subspecialty ophthalmologists for specialized treatments and surgical evaluations.

Salary Information:

Commensurate with education and experience.
