Job Functions: The Aging Populations Coordinator will focus on services, resources, programs, and partnerships with a focus on aging populations in Pinellas County. The coordinator will ensure that aging population clients and communities are assessed according to the Outreach Policies and Procedures with an additional focus on screening clients in need of Financial Special Assistance, Prevention and Diversions in a timely and efficient manner. Additionally, this position is responsible for providing community navigation and resources for this population while properly utilizing HMIS real time data entry. This is a direct services position identifying and facilitating solutions to gaps in services and resources for aging populations in Pinellas County.

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Actively recruit and develop community partnerships focusing on aging populations in Pinellas County. Serving as a knowledgeable representative in all areas of Metropolitan Ministries' operations and available community resources. Fields questions, organizes people, and resources, and works with collaborative partners to ensure effective distribution of resources. Communicate regularly with each partner, establishing and organizing partnership meetings.
  2. Directly responsible for assessing aging clients, providing client evaluations for determining services, financial assistance, and approving those services based on policy, procedure and guidelines specific to aging populations.
  3. Participates in aging population community events bringing awareness of services and resources available. Identifying and evaluating gaps in service of our aging population through direct services, partnerships, and trends to develop and implement strategies to alleviate gaps in service. Serving on committees and focus groups specific to aging populations in Pinellas County.
  4. Provides overall community outreach holiday support for aging populations: identify specific holiday needs for aging populations, participate in holiday partner orientation and training meetings, coordinate in-person client registration days at partner locations working with partners, IT, marketing, and volunteer services setting dates, securing volunteers, computer and registration set up, promotion, and execution. Support client care operations of Metro Ministry's Pinellas holiday tent, pop-up sites and partners, coordination of Pinellas seasonal holiday staff and volunteer duties.
  5. Coordinate disaster relief assistance to aging population communities to ensure basic needs are met through programs, special events, and navigation.
  6. Maintain flexibility and shift within grants and funding sources and all tasks assigned.
  7. Meet personal goals and actively contribute to the achievement of the team and organizational targets/goals as stated in the KPIs and the strategic plan. Complete other tasks as assigned.
Requirements

Education and Experience:

Minimum of an associate's degree or a minimum of two years' experience in programs coordination, social services, customer service, partnership development, community engagement, communications or volunteering, or closely related field.

Skills Requirements:

Requires heart for ministry and comfort working with aging populations who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. Requires understanding of poverty, a high degree of maturity, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with low socio-economic and diverse populations facing crisis situations in a professional and diplomatic manner. Ability to deescalate clients on the edge of verbal or physical violence. Ability to work as part of a team within a multi-disciplinary framework. Demonstrates high computer literacy with knowledge of Microsoft 365 - Teams, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel. Ability to learn new systems or have knowledge to include but limited to inventory system, Dynamics 365, Constant Contact, event registration system. Requires organizational skills, oral and written communication skills and the ability to write reports and conduct and participate in meetings. Bi-lingual a plus but not required.

Physical Requirements:

Must have adequate hearing and speaking ability. Must be capable of working outdoors in sunlight and higher temperatures on occasion. Must have the physical, emotional, and spiritual stamina to handle job-related issues and stress and ability to be on your feet for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift 35 lbs or more.

Other:

Must demonstrate legal authorization to work in the United States. Must pass required background pre-employment screening. Must be able to communicate effectively in English. Must have current driver's license and cleared to drive vehicles rented under Metropolitan Ministries insurance.
