The Biomed Equipment Technician works under minimal supervision; generally organizes and prioritizes workload. This job maintains clinical equipment through the effective use of the Medical Equipment Management Plan and the Biomedical Technology Services Program. This job also performs a variety of routine tasks associated with the installation, maintenance, calibration and repair of biomedical equipment.

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment: N/A Experience REQUIRED: Minimum of two (2) years experience in the repair and maintenance of electronic equipment and/or medical equipment. An equivalent combination of education and experience or military training may be substituted. Experience PREFERRED: Proficient in all skills required for a BMET I (see BMET I Job Description). Education/training REQUIRED: HighSchool Diploma or equivalent. Education/training PREFERRED: Associate's Degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology, Electronics or closely related field. Independent action(s) required: Conducts repairs according to procedures. Maintain inventory and par levels of all instruments and supplies. Follows OSHA and TJC guidelines. Job duties may include the access to and/or contact with medications and related supplies. Supervisory responsibilities (if applicable): N/A Additional position requirements: On call Rotation and occasional weekend, shift rotations as work demands.
