In the role of Risk Analysis and Diagnostic Engineer, you will perform, report, and present on risk assessments of pipelines, facilities and storage assets using standard and non-standard tools and techniques to support department objectives and partner's requests.

What You Will Do:

  • Perform quantitative assessment of risks associated with gas transmission, gas processing, and gas storage assets following processes.

  • Support the management of partners' requests including problem definition, data collection, application of assessment techniques, and communication of results.

  • Collaborate with senior team members on continuous improvements of assessment tools and develop new techniques

  • Communicate effectively highly technical results and analysis methodologies used in assessments, results, limitations, etc. to department leadership and team members through presentations and written communications.

Who you are:

  • Hold a bachelor's degree in engineering

  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng) - registered in Alberta; PE is not required for U.S.

  • 4+ years of technical experience in two or more of the following areas:

    • Risk Management related to Oil & Gas assets.

    • Pipeline integrity related projects and programs.

    • Research-related projects requiring review of industry literature, interpretation of a variety data types, and generation of conclusions and recommendations based on findings.

  • Knowledge of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 192, ASME B31.8S, CSA Z662, OSHA 1910.119, Z767, API 1173, ISO 3100 and other industry regulations and standards.

  • Knowledge and experience applying reliability and risk assessment methodologies: quantitative/probabilistic risk assessments, structured reliability models, Monte Carlos simulations, fault tree models, Bayesian networks.

  • Proficiency in running data through Excel, Pivot Tables and Power BI

  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite, statistical tools (such as @RISK and MATLAB), and large databases (using tools such as PowerPivot or PowerQuery)

  • Experience with pipeline reliability and risk software is preferred

  • A Master's degree or PhD in Engineering is preferred

Working Conditions:

  • Office environment; deskwork using computers and software

  • Required to manage tight timelines with limited information in some instances

  • Approximately 5% of travel is required for conferences and team events. Valid passport is required.

Physical Requirements:

Grasping, kneeling, light - moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.

Ability to: understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information, understand complex problems and collaborate/explore alternative solutions, organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology, organize and prioritize work schedule on a short-term basis, make decisions which have moderate impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside this area, understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines, complete routine forms, compose letters, outlines, memoranda and basic reports and communicate with individuals via telephone.
