Description

The Crew Lead - Casting is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the casting department. This includes monitoring and control of the holding furnace temperature once the chemistry is on specification. The Crew Lead is also responsible to direct the activities of the Casting Operator(s) assigned to the casting center.

What you'll do:



  • Organization and housekeeping of the casting area, cleaning and basic maintenance of related equipment
  • Lead daily safety and production meetings with crew
  • Perform training with crew as needed to maintain knowledge and increase skills of operators
  • Create charge plans & Alloy calculations for each melt cycle
  • Responsible for the communication of shift reports to management
  • Report any personnel/ safety concerns to management
  • Control the holding furnace, degasser, casting table and related equipment.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of alloys, practices and procedures
  • Insure quality of all products produced will meet requirements and specifications
  • Record and maintain pertinent production data in an accurate manner.
  • Evaluate production and seek to provide continuous improvement for the casting process


What you'll need:



  • High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution
  • Employee must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire, Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
  • Must pass minimal physical test and background screening


Skills and Abilities



  • Ability to identify problems, inform others, and assist in the solving of such problems
  • Judgment and decision-making abilities to prevent errors, scrap parts, safety hazards, or other poor results pertaining to job duties.
  • Ability to read and interpret work documents such as operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, quality instructions, and other related documents.
  • Ability to work with others as a team



Licenses or Certifications



  • If driving is required to complete the essential functions of this position, a valid driver's license is required
  • Must satisfactorily complete the Ellwood Aluminum Crane and Forklift certification training programs

  • Promotes a safety culture and ensures compliance with safety policies and rules.
  • Safety improvement -Provides for continuous reduction of workplace hazards, risks, employee accidents.
