Georgia-Pacific Engineering Group is seeking qualified professionals for our Senior Mechanical Engineer - Piping Design opportunity.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer - Piping Design to join our team and contribute to the success of our ongoing and future projects. The ideal candidate will have at least 12 years of expertise in piping systems design, project management, and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to drive results.

Job Summary

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer specializing in Piping Design, you will lead and oversee the design, analysis, and implementation of piping systems across various projects. You will be responsible for ensuring the quality, safety, and efficiency of piping design solutions while mentoring junior engineers and working closely with clients, project managers, and other engineering disciplines. This is a Hybrid role with at least 1 day at the Atlanta headquarters weekly.

What You Will Do
* Lead and oversee the design and development of piping systems for complex mechanical projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and codes (e.g., ASME, ANSI, API, etc.).
* Perform detailed piping design calculations, material selection, and stress analysis to ensure the integrity and safety of piping systems.
* Develop and review piping system layouts, isometric drawings, and 3D models using software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or other specialized piping design tools.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including structural, electrical, and instrumentation engineers, to ensure the successful integration of piping systems into overall project designs.
* Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers, ensuring the development and adherence to best practices in piping design and engineering standards.
* Evaluate and approve vendor drawings, specifications, and equipment for the procurement of piping materials and components.
* Manage and coordinate with project teams to deliver piping design packages within budget and on schedule.
* Conduct site assessments, feasibility studies, project reviews, and commissioning to ensure all piping systems meet customer and regulatory requirements.
* Ensure that all designs adhere to safety, environmental, and quality assurance standards.
* Prepare and present technical reports, proposals, and presentations for internal teams and customers.
* Stay current with new piping design technologies, materials, and industry trends to continuously improve design processes.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
* A minimum of 10 years of experience in mechanical engineering with a strong focus on piping design.
* Expertise in piping design principles, material selection, stress analysis, and system layout.
* Proficiency with CAD software, including AutoCAD, Revit, and/or 3D modeling software for piping design including Plant 3D.
* Strong understanding of industry codes and standards, such as ASME B31.3, ASME B31.1, API, and others relevant to piping design.
* Experience in project management, including leading design teams, coordinating with other engineering disciplines, and ensuring project delivery within scope, time, and budget.
* Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical-thinking skills.
* Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to work effectively with clients, contractors, and cross-functional teams.
* Able and willing to travel to manufacturing sites up to 40% of the time (dependent on project needs)

What Will Put You Ahead
* Professional Engineer (PE) licensure or equivalent certification.
* Experience with advanced piping stress analysis tools
* Familiarity with international codes and regulations (e.g., ASME, ISO, ASNZ, etc.).
* Experience in the Building Products, Consumer Products, Chemical, or similar industrial sectors.
