Tenure faculty (regardless of rank) - persons with the titles of professor, associate professor, assistant professor and instructor who serve on appointments totaling 50% or more service to the university and who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure. Duties and responsibilities are assigned in accordance with the workload guidelines laid out in the pattern of administration of each faculty members tenure initiation unit (TIU) and, as appropriate, regional campus; obligations will include research, service and/or teaching or clinical practice. These faculty will have earned doctorate or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study or possession of equivalent experience. Position Overview Assistant Professor to serve as a member of the Division of Hematology within the Department of Internal Medicine; embarks on a program of research in the specialty of hematology; obtains external research funding; supervises lab staff; participates in the academic commitments of the division and department. Education and Experience Requirements Required: PhD or equivalent in a related field; an established record or strong evidence of the ability to achieve an extramurally-funded and productive scholarship program in a discipline of medical laboratory science or related field; ability to mentor undergraduate and graduate students Department/Division Overview The OSUCCC-James is one of only 56 NCI-designated comprehensive cancer centers in the nation, a designation that we have maintained through competitive renewal since 1976. The James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute opened the third largest cancer hospital in the United States in 2014 to meet the needs of our community, and an outpatient care center in 2023 featuring clinic and infusion space for hematology physicians. The James provides a state of the art facility that fosters integration of research and clinical cancer care, including 308 inpatient beds and a 36 bed blood and marrow transplant (BMT) unit.
