Radiology Patient Care Coordinator - Sunday and Monday Days Off

Duties of a Radiology Patient Care Coordinator may include the following but are not limited to:



  • Coordinate high volume, complex linked scheduling for various appointment types in RIS and EWS for the Interventional Radiology department.
  • Ensure patient procedures, exams, consultations, pre admission testing appointments don't fall through the cracks.
  • Give patients necessary instructions for their procedure(s), and exams.
  • Ensure patient compliance with appointments, and procedures to continue care.
  • Frequent rescheduling and re-coordination of numerous inter dependent complex procedural, Pre-admission testing, and lab appointments.
  • Coordinates with physicians within the hospital, and physicians from outside facilities, disseminate pertinent information to patients and staff.
  • Request, and upload outside reports and images into LifeImage, or PACS to maintain accuracy for provider appointments.
  • Create patient intake forms and upload into Cerner for clinical review.
  • Review patient charts to verify up to date medical information, procedural details and forms are scanned into RIS and power chart for nursing and physicians.
  • Create encounters for all patient's procedure appointments and reconcile patient encounters if needed.
  • Communicate with the reps from various medical companies.
  • Communicate accurately and timely with Interventional Radiology staff to ensure the correct inventory is in stock.
  • Coordinate with leadership on updates to procedural flow reference guides
  • Coordinate procedures with the pathology department for cytology, histology, and hematology
  • Input physicians cases and consults into their Outlook calendar.
  • Maintain/distribute the daily schedules of the technician's patient workflow for the day.
  • Coordinate the outpatient anesthesia schedule with radiology and anesthesiology staff.
  • Validate patient parking
  • Maintain adequate supply of office supplies.
  • Maintain waiting area by keeping a clean and safe environment for patients.
  • Communicate issues with hardware or software to the Radiology IT department.
  • Maintain calm, friendly and positive demeanor to ensure patient and referring MD service excellence while meeting the operational needs of the department.
  • Inform Technologist of patient's arrival; verify patient identification and demographics. Reconcile script discrepancies.
  • Facilitate inpatient x-ray orders.
  • Request transport of equipment in Capacity Management.
  • Perform confirmation calls of all Radiology outpatient exams in hospital.
  • Monitor and follow up on "no show" patients to identify and escalate patient compliance issues.
  • Reschedule pre-admission testing appointments and exams to maintain patient flow of the department.
  • Maintain excellent communication between all Radiology staff.
  • Knowledge of CPT, and ICD codes.
  • Identify and facilitate a patient with financial needs to financial navigation team.
  • Identify potential billing and insurance issues.
  • Create spreadsheets and reports as related for various reconciliation and operational issues, to support increase volume and turnaround times for future growth of the department.
  • Utilizes multiple Radiology specific IT systems to support operational reporting and data analysis.
  • Maintains strictest confidentiality, adheres to all HIPPA guidelines and regulations.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications: Associate's degree and at least 1 year of medical office and/or hospital clerical experience or, in lieu of a degree, at least 3 years of medical office and/or hospital clerical experience. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Excellent organizational skills. Ability to multi-task and pay close attention to detail. Ability to work as an efficient team member and have superior written and expressive communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications: Associate's degree. Radiology experience. Knowledge of hospital computer systems (Cerner & EWS). Knowledge of insurance & managed care requirements.

  • Successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Medicine's Employee Health Services*
  • Complete electronic reference check with a minimum of three (3) professional references.
  • Successfully complete a 4-panel drug screen*
  • Meet Regulatory Requirements for pre-employment screenings.
  • Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).


Failure to comply with any of the above requirements could result in a delayed start date and/or revocation of the employment offer.

*The hiring department will be responsible for any fee incurred for examination.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position is $43,372 - $52,020 / year.

The above salary range represents SBUH's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. The specific salary offer will be based on the candidate's validated years of comparable experience. Any efforts to inflate or misrepresent experience are grounds for disqualification from the application process or termination of employment if hired.

Some positions offer annual supplemental pay such as:



  • Location pay for UUP, CSEA & PEF full-time positions ($3400)
