Job Summary Glendale Community College is currently seeking a 9-month, one year only faculty member to support the Teacher Education Program associate and bachelor's degree programs. The candidate will assist with the instruction and facilitation of upper-division and lower-division teacher education courses including methods courses, professional seminars, classroom management, and lower-division foundational education and special education courses. Responsibilities include: Overseeing of student teachers, working with mentor teachers and principals, coordination of clinical experiences, and overseeing the teacher education program to provide support for pre-service and student teachers. The faculty member will prepare and teach assigned classes in accordance with syllabus guidelines, using innovative teaching methodologies, and keeping current on industry trends reflecting advancements in education. The faculty member will maintain appropriate records, assign earned grades, report needed data to the department, and complete all necessary department assessment information. Essential Functions Teach undergraduate courses for (100-400 level) within the elementary education and special education discipline that meet the required course load requirements. Organize and oversee visits with student teachers assigned to K-12 schools. Assist with difficulties, concerns, and problems of teacher candidates, student teachers, principals, and mentor teachers. Maintains compliance with all college policies and program accreditation/licensure requirements including the Arizona Department of Education Teacher Certification Requirements, Title II Reports, District Program Reviews. Develops and maintains relationships with professional contacts to support field experience, student teaching, project collaborations, and student mentoring. Fosters and promotes a sense of belonging and collegiality among faculty, students, and staff. Engage students within the classroom to stimulate discussions for collective learning. Incorporate relevant research resources and experiential activities to support course objectives, lectures, and learning outcomes. Assist students outside classroom hours and actively mentors' students. Assess student performance by college assessment practices. Assist with curriculum design and development; be a sound advocate for change to programs, curriculum, and teaching methodologies/pedagogies for in-person, hybrid and online classes. Organize professional development activities that promote the teaching profession for all education students. Assist college administration in developing internal and external communities that promote the College's academic programs/majors. Minimum Qualifications Academic A graduate degree is required. A faculty may qualify with any of the following:
Subjects EDA, EDU, EFE, ELN, EPD, ETL, GST, SPE The following disciplines meet the requirements to teach in this field: A master's degree or higher in any of the following areas is within the teaching field: Masters of Arts, Masters of Education: Education Elementary, Education, Secondary +discipline, Educational Leadership, Educational Leadership and Innovation, Educational Administration, Higher Education, Administration and Supervision, Teacher Leadership, Instructional Leadership, Curriculum and Instruction, Curriculum Leadership, Educational Policy, Educational Management, English as a Second Language, Teaching and Learning, Multicultural Education, Culturally Responsive Education, Educational Technology, Educational Psychology, Literacy Education/Reading, Language Education, Music Education, Physical Education, Art Education, Theatre Education, Dance Education, Special Education, Gifted Education, World Language Education, Early Childhood Education, English Language Learning, English as a Second Language, Bilingual Education Desired Qualifications A. Five or more years' experience teaching K-12 students in a school setting; Maintains a current teaching license issued by the state department of education. B. Prior experience in school administration or in the supervision/evaluation of teachers (vice principal, principal, instructional coach, department chair, etc.) C. Experience in developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with partnering school sites, colleagues, faculty, and/or administration. D. Evidence of hybrid instruction that incorporates current teaching methodologies and/or technologies. E. The ability to work with a diverse range of students using a variety of adult learning methods in modalities such as online, hybrid and in-person. F. Evidence of curriculum design and/or instructional efforts aligning with learning outcomes. G. Experience mentoring and/or training novice teachers in K-12 and special education settings.
