Project/Design Engineer Associate

Trek Connect Project/Design Engineer leads the design efforts for custom interconnects & cable/wire harness and assemblies. He/she coordinates engineering project activities by reviewing customer requirements, developing concepts & designs, reviewing & developing preliminary bills of material, and generating quotations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties as assigned.



  • Develops project scopes & definitions by reviewing customer requirements & specifications.
  • Manages all project activities through cross-functional teams to ensure all associated tasks are completed on time. This includes working with the Engineering & Production Support (EPS) group and the production department.
  • Drives design and development activity and resolve issues and conflicts. Including reviewing & developing preliminary bills of material, drawings, and specifications.
  • Prepares & communicate project status through meetings as required, capturing & providing accurate minutes, actions, and due dates.
  • Supports Bid and Proposal efforts by analyzing requirements and preparing quotes for design & manufacture of custom interconnects & cable/harness & assemblies.
  • Manages project folder for completeness & accuracy; complying with TREK Connect Design & Development quality procedures and all applicable elements of Trek Connect Quality Management System.
  • Uses computer-aided design (CAD) system and peripheral equipment to develop & generate designs, drawings, documents & specifications for use in the manufacturing and/or assembly of custom interconnects and cable/harness & assembly.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:



  • BS Electrical / Mechanical Engineering or other related areas.
  • 3+ years industry experience.
  • Aerospace & defense experience.
  • Interconnects, fiber optics and cable/harness assembly experience a plus.
  • AS9100C/ISO9001:2008 experience a plus.
  • Interconnects, fiber optics and cable/harness assembly experience a plus.


SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:



  • Must be a US Citizen due to Naval Contractual Agreements.
  • Must be able to report to Lumberton, NJ office during scheduled in-office workdays.
  • Familiarity with military specifications.
  • Proficient in 2D & 3D CAD -- AutoCAD, ProE preferred.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical & design skills.
  • Analytical thinking.
  • Knowledgeable in manufacturing methods & procedures.
  • Project management skills.
  • Team player.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job the employee is often required to stand, sit, use computers, read, write, type, use copy machines, file paperwork, use telephones, and utilize written and oral communication to interact with clients, co-workers, and customers. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Position is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions (such as in typical office or administrative work.)
