Responsibilities

As Payor Change Admissions Specialist, you will be responsible for performing verification of insurance coverage for Medicare and Non-Medicare patient accounts identified for move to a different payor type.

  • Identifies patient accounts requiring insurance verification and authorization for services by working daily tasks in HCHB.
  • Verifies Medicare and Non-Medicare insurance coverage for patient accounts identified for move, via telephone or online systems.
  • Obtains initial authorization where required while maintaining compliance to medical record confidentiality regulations.
  • Assists the department in efficient collection of client and payor information to ensure accuracy.
  • Completes HCHB Payor Request for the purpose of meeting payor and client needs and to ensure accurate reimbursement.
  • Works to reduce write-offs by moving accounts within timely filing requirements of payors.
  • Complies with policies, procedures and regulatory mandates including but not limited to abiding to the terms of the Amedisys Compliance Program.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Post-secondary education or training in business or medical billing/collections.
Preferred:
  • Two (2+) years' experience with medical office or home health benefit verification or billing.
