Description

Waukesha County's Department of Parks and Land Use is looking for someone to step into the role of office support, and that someone could be YOU!

Picture this: you'll be a core contributor in the department's office team, handling time-sensitive clerical and computer tasks, and performing customer service and cash handling responsibilities.

What does it take to be a strong fit? To start, a High School Diploma or GED, and a valid drivers license. Additionally, if you have some recent experience facilitating strong customer service, terrific attention to detail, great organizational skills, and working as part of a team to accomplish tasks and projects, that's going to set you apart from the crowd!

Candidates must be able to commute to the Waukesha County Administrative Center, 515 W. Moreland Blvd., Waukesha, WI. Remote work is not an option for this position.

The hourly rate range is $16.40 to $22.63, depending on skills and qualifications.

As for the work schedule, it's typically Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm; however, a mutually acceptable work schedule will be established at the time of hire. The ideal candidate will be able to work approximately 30-40 hours per week.

This is a non-benefitted, limited term position, anticipated to end by September 26, 2025.

Example of Duties

Under supervision, duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Provides excellent customer service when answering and returning calls from patrons who need assistance with purchases or notices.
  • Processes notices and performs mailing prep.
  • Assists in the processing of restaurant and retail food license payments.
  • Checks a variety of records, forms, applications, reports, statistical tables, and other materials for accuracy and completeness.
  • Duplicates, assembles, collates, and distributes a wide variety of materials.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relations with co-workers, employees, other official agencies/departments and the public.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Essential Knowledge and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of standard office practices, procedures, and techniques.
  • Working knowledge of effective customer service techniques.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office products or comparable office products.
  • Working knowledge of standard office equipment, including telephones, computers/keyboards, copiers, and printers/fax/scanners.
  • Ability to perform basic word processing, editing, data entry and spreadsheet maintenance.
  • Ability to apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures related to a specific program or services.
  • Ability to follow and understand oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to make minor decisions using standardized practices.
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a team and deal with people in an effective and timely manner.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective, professional, positive, and respectful working relationships and communications internally, with other County departments/divisions, clients/customers, outside agencies, and the general public.
  • Ability to effectively interact with sensitivity with persons from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, educational, racial, ethnic, and professional backgrounds, and persons of all ages and lifestyles.
You must meet these minimum qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid drivers license.
Some recent customer service and/or office work experience is desirable.
