Overview

ABOUT THE POSITION

VHB's Site Investigation and Remediation team in Providence, RI is looking to add an Environmental Scientist to support our work in due diligence, site assessment and site characterization. Our projects and clients are diverse, and while common themes run through most of our work, each project is unique. This results in new experiences and exciting opportunities to collaborate with a supportive and innovative team of multidisciplinary professionals.

Responsibilities

    Field data collection (soil, groundwater, soil gas, sediment, and surface water sampling).
  • Conduct Site Investigations including ASTM Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments Leveraging technology to support data management and visualization.
  • Conduct and Document Research at State and Municipal Agencies.
  • Provide Field Support and Documentation of Remediation Projects.
  • Write Technical Reports, Correspondence, Notes and Memoranda.

Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to work in field and office settings.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Motivated and ability to problem solve and work independently.
  • Knowledge of RIDEM Remediation Regulations and Massachusetts Contingency Plan regulations and guidance documents a plus.
  • Prior experience with SPCC and SWPPP inspections also a plus.

Requirements

  • BS in, Environmental Science, Geology, Hydrogeology or Environmental Engineering (MS a plus).
  • 0-1 years of professional environmental/remediation consulting experience.
  • VHB will provide training, but individuals holding active OSHA 10-Hour Construction and 40-Hour HAZWOPER Training certificates preferred. These certifications are required in order to conduct field work at most of our project sites.
