Summer Youth Attendant Care Worker

The Guidance Center (TGC) is a community-based, non-profit agency serving as the local Community Mental Health Center for Atchison, Jefferson, and Leavenworth Counties in Kansas. We are dedicated to promoting recovery for children and adults with serious mental illness and substance abuse issues, as well as fostering partnerships to support individuals and families. Through advocacy and education, we work to eliminate the stigma and barriers preventing many from seeking treatment.

We are currently seeking individuals to work temporarily from May 27 to August 7, 2025, in our Summer Psychosocial Program for Youth. The position entails working primarily Monday through Thursday, 7:00 am to 1:00 pm, with flexibility based on client needs. Successful candidates must be available for in-person training before May 27.

Duties:

• Assist in facilitating successful group interactions among program participants
• Co-facilitate and assist Group Leader with presenting curriculum to clients, monitor behavior, and complete daily progress notes.
• Encourage and support clients' engagement in program activities
• Support clients in problem-solving and effective social interactions
• Serve as Attendant on transportation routes for youth participating in the program

Pay Rate:

$19.69 to $22.10 per hour, based on relevant experience.

Minimum Qualifications:

One year of college coursework or relevant work experience in human services is required. Experience working with individuals in the community for at least six months is necessary, with a preference for experience in mental health services.
