Posting Summary
Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Research Assistant (Per Diem) for the Clinical Research Unit Department within New Jersey Medical School.

The Research Assistant Per Diem position at Rutgers NJMS will support the program activities of OB/ GYN and Clinical Research projects.

Among the key duties of the position are the following:

  • Collaborate and communicate with research project team members (e.g., supervisor, project manager, researchers, other program assistants, etc).
  • Actively recruits and screens patients for eligibility. Assists with reviewing subject medical records for study eligibility.
  • Work with study patients and the other program assistants of the research team to schedule and coordinate patient visits.
  • Participate in shadowing sessions and orientation meetings with clinical team members.
  • Advocate for patient needs and preferences.
  • Streamlining data collection and organization to support seamless program operations

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience

  • Bachelors Degree + 1 year experience working in a patient-oriented or community-service position.
  • OR Associates degree from an accredited college or university plus two years of relevant work experience.


Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must complete NU's IRB CITI training before interacting with any participants & must re-certify every 3 years.
  • Proficient in English.
  • Ability to work comfortably with patients and various members of medical staff.
  • Excellent listening, communication, and organization skills.
  • Passion for healthy equity issues and increased healthcare access for BIPOC persons and/or women.
  • Experience working with pregnant individuals.
  • Familiarity with the local community and social service community resources.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to walk to various areas of the hospital and navigate a large volume of patients.
  • Ability to travel from site-to-site as needed.
  • Never pulling/pushing, lifting, and carrying over 50 pounds.


WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Position requires flexible work hours to accommodate patient needs, and candidate is required to be on site.
  • Work adjustments will be made, with notice, according to state-level COVID-19 guidelines at time of employment.
