Corrections Activities Specialist - SCI Coal Township

As a Corrections Activities Specialist, you will coordinate leisure time and recreational programs for inmates. You will plan and supervise structured activities, individual and team sports, inmate organizations, and volunteer activities. You will provide coaching, instruction, and expectations for all programs. This role requires effective communication and a genuine desire to offer leisure and recreational activities that promote wellness and encourage inmate participation. In addition, you will establish program goals, ensure activities reach all levels of interest, maintain facility equipment, and submit requisitions for activity supplies.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
• Work hours are 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM, Tuesday - Saturday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
• Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of 63,343.00 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• A bachelor's degree with major course work in recreation and physical education; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

Other Requirements:

• Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

• You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
