Job Summary

This position is assigned full professional and administrative responsibility for the Diet Office, Dietetic Assistants, Diet Kitchen, and Expressed Breast Milk Program. The position will oversee the daily functions and overall maintenance of Hospitality Suites Computrition, including all software updates and managing the integrity of data for food items, recipes, and menus. The position will oversee the daily functions and overall maintenance of the Aeroscout temperature monitoring program. The incumbent is responsible for dietetic assistant recruitment, onboarding, training, timekeeping, performance management, and corrective actions. The incumbent will manage the labor budget and assist with justifying new positions or program enhancements. The incumbent will collaborate with the Patient Services Manager to implement new patient menus and maintain the Diet Manual policy for the hospital. This position serves as preceptor to the UC Davis Health Dietetic Internship program and will contribute to the training of dietetic interns during the internship orientation and management rotation.

As a Patient Services Supervisor, this position will assist in the overall management of patient services operations, including performance improvement projects, training programs, and policy and procedure development and revisions. The incumbent will supervise operations for the trayline, pot dish, and host areas in the absence of the Trayline Supervisor. The incumbent will participate on interdepartmental committees as a representative of the patient services area as well as the diet office of the Food and Nutrition Services department.

This position develops and implements standards for education and in-service programs ensuring the education and training experience are appropriate for all staff in accordance with The Joint Commission, California Department of Public Health, Title 22, CMS, Sacramento County Environmental Management Department and UCDH policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

  • Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) registered with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics' Commission on Dietetic Registration
  • Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, Food Management, or related field, granted by a U.S. regionally accredited college or University, or foreign equivalent education.
  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience in the field of nutrition.
  • Supervisory and/or leadership experience to select, train, motivate, recognize, supervise, evaluate the performance of staff and ensure operational success.
  • Experience providing customer service and service recovery.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint, Excel, Word.
  • Must have knowledge in age specific foods and nutritional needs for menu development, diet manual review, and intern training.
  • Skill to evaluate and interpret food code and other regulations.
  • Must be organized, able to work immediately and sent up processes where no precedent has been set.
  • Skill to write professional reports, give presentations, and teach classes.
  • Skill to write and interpret policies and procedures to evaluate and develop operations.
  • Skill to develop new programs, staffing plans, schedules, training programs.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Skill to solve problems and make decisions.
  • Must be able to ambulate throughout UCDH.

Preferred Qualifications

  • ServSafe Certification (active or obtained within 6 months of hire)
  • Specialty certification in area of expertise.
  • Master's degree in Nutrition, Public Health or Food Management.
  • Experience with facilitating team building, engagement, and training programs
  • Experience with performance management.
  • Experience working with food safety auditors and food safety regulations.
  • Experience working with union contracts.
