Position Summary

The UNM Clinical & Translational Science Center (CTSC) at the Health Sciences Center (HSC) is seeking an experienced, strategic, and effective High Performance Computing (HPC) Systems Specialist 1 to provide programming and management support in a complex research computing environment. The HPC Specialist will work as a member of the CTSC Informatics Core's programmer/analyst and data management team on the administration and maintenance of high performance computing systems, clusters, as well as advanced filesystems, enterprise storage systems, visualization environments, and networks. Additional tasks include development and maintenance of databases, ensuring integrity and security of data, system integration/deployment, system performance/security analyses, problem resolution, and support of open source web applications. The HPC Systems Specialist will work with a range of departmental stakeholders to provide comprehensive support to faculty, researchers, students, and other computational staff on the development of system management tools and architectural assessments of production systems. The CTSC is a member of the national Clinical Translational Science Award (CTSA) consortium, funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). "Translational" science implies translating research into practice through the cycle of "bench" (traditional lab research) to "bedside" (clinical trials in patients) to "community" (actual adoption in larger systems). The CTSC promotes the expansion of clinical research and the emergence of community voice in the direction and implementation of clinical research.
