Housekeeping/Environmental Services

Diamond Grove Center is currently searching for an experienced individual to join our Housekeeping/Environmental Services team. This position will be PRN only, days will vary, the hours will be consistent from 6:30am-3:30pm.

Diamond Grove Center is a 61 bed, behavioral health psychiatric hospital located in the beautiful neighborhood of Louisville, Miss. Diamond Grove Center features individual units for children, adolescents, and offers inpatient acute care, as well as residential treatment for adolescents. On average 1000 patients receive care from our compassionate health care team each year at Diamond Grove Center Hospital. What dutues are required to be a Housekeeper at Diamond Grove Center.

To maintain and keep facility clean as per standards set by the Maintenance Supervisor.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS include, but are not limited to:

1. KNOWLEDGE of tasks associated with job performance.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:

  • Demonstrates a good working knowledge of infection control standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of floor and carpet care.
  • Pick up and remove trash.
  • Demonstrates housekeeping skills in patient rooms, bathrooms, common areas and offices.
  • Demonstrates window-cleaning skills.
  • Always follows emergency procedure (Code 13, Fire Drill, Disaster Drill).

2.UTILIZES efficient, productive work habits.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:

  • Establishes appropriate work habits.
  • Completes work assignments within expected time frame.
  • Responds positively and cooperatively to changing work environment, work demands and pressure.
  • Seeks and does additional tasks when normal work pressure decreases.

  • Maintains safety standards and practices.
  • Is always punctual.
  • Is up to date on all mandatory in-services.

  • Exhibits excellent customer relations skills as evidenced by supportive and constructive communication with all contacts including coworkers, patients, visitors, families, and referral sources.   • Maintains scheduling requirements, attendance, and punctuality in accordance with hospital and department policies.
  • Follows unit assignment sheet completing assigned task designated by charge nurse.
  • Understands the need for appropriate patient/staff boundaries and maintains a strict therapeutic relationship during active treatment. Discontinues communication with patients upon discharge. Informs supervisor of any contact after discharge.
  • Seeks out sources to address ethical concerns as they relate to patient care issues.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  1. High School Diploma or Equivalent GED preferred.
  2. One year of training or experience in housekeeping, infection control, and floor/carpet maintenance.
  3. Requires dependability, punctuality, and good physical condition.
  4. Must have the ability to work harmoniously with all staff and to relate well with patients and visitors, including use of good judgement in limiting conversations with patients and co-workers.
GENERAL PERFORMANCE CRITERIA Housekeeping

SPECIAL SKILL AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREDMENTS:

  1. Knowledge of infection control issues.
  2. Knowledge of disinfectants and their use.
  3. Knowledge of operation of vacuums, buffers, and safety standards.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMNTS:

Overall physical workload is medium. Must be able to transport, move heavy equipment. Ability to communicate orally and in writing with others. Must be mobile throughout the facility and system entities to attend meeting and make rounds. Position requires flexible hours. Frequent standing. Occasional conflict resolution; constant attention to multiple details. Frequent problem solving and decision making. Occasional exposure to stressful situations. Exposure to body fluids and disinfectants.
