Job Summary

Corewell Health is seeking a Business Operations Manager, Clinical Shared Services. The Business Operations Manager will manage collection, production, analysis and presentation of accurate reports for financial, utilization and operational data for Corewell Health Imaging. The Business Operations Manager oversees charging, revenue, and reimbursement activities in collaboration with Finance. This role manages monthly financial variance reviews and reporting, participates in financial analyses including return on investment analysis, pro forma development for new initiatives and program review for ongoing activities and makes recommendations for change as needed. The Business Operations Manager plans, coordinates and provides appropriate training for users and acts as a consultant to department managers for the use of information from data reports and systems. The Business Operations Manager works closely with Senior Financial Analysts, as well as Digital Services Teams. Identifies and implements new applications and uses for software.

Essential Functions

  • Oversees annual operating financial plan in partnership with leadership. Monitors financial plans continuously, works with management to determine variances and assists managers in developing action plans to correct variances. Facilitates development of annual operational financial plan.

  • Manages the charge services processes. Regularly reviews, develops, and monitors revenue cycle management within areas of responsibility, update as necessary. Collaborates with Revenue Management to identify revenue opportunities and to maximize charge capture.

  • Participates in preparation of financial proposals, reports and analysis in support of programs and activities. Performs statistical, cost, and financial analysis of data from various accounting and information systems. Analyzes and interprets financial data for the purpose of determining past financial performance and/or to project financial profitability.

  • Manages the production and maintenance of financial and operational reporting and department statistics. Oversees report writing in the various reporting products and databases. Oversees collection, compilation analysis and reporting of clinical and/or financial data for departmental operation improvement.

  • Conducts management and staff end-user training for reporting systems and advises users in best means to extract information. Trains all department managers and other staff in the interpretation of department reports.

  • Assists leadership/management in integrating data with strategy. Where appropriate, makes recommendations for change in practice based on review, analysis, and interpretation of financial and operational data.

  • Identifies department business information requirements and assists Digital Services analysts in transforming business requirements into logical data models. Works collaboratively with Digital Services to define data needs, gather requirements, and participate in the development and maintenance of "metadata" (data definitions, sources of truth, logic, etc.), as well as to research and coordinate the implementation of computer enhancements.

  • Ensures that processes and services are continuously monitored for quality, cost effectiveness, efficiency and regulatory compliance. Engages in process and quality improvement activities. Makes and implements recommendations to the team to improve operational efficiency and to implement new services for areas of responsibility.

Qualifications

Required

  • Required Bachelor's Degree Business, Finance or other related fields

  • 5 years of relevant experience in management or support of clinical departments with emphasis on effective financial management, financial analysis, utilization and automation Required

  • 3 years of relevant experience leadership Required

Preferred

  • Preferred Master's Degree Business, Finance or other related fields

  • Experience with PACS systems and Epic applications strongly preferred
