Starting pay $30 per hour

Broadwind Heavy Fabrications is hiring! We are looking for a Maintenance Technician for our 2nd shift (Monday-Thursday 3pm-1am). The primary responsibility is to perform preventative maintenance and repair of machines and facility to ensure production needs are met.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (May include some or all of the following responsibilities)


  • Install and dismantle equipment
  • Change out weld power supplies
  • Exchange bevellers for service
  • Change flux handling equipment
  • Swap trunnions for repair
  • Program VFD/transformers
  • Perform preventative maintenance (PM) on equipment (mobile and stationary)
  • Proficient on equipment repairs
  • Perform basic maintenance tasks (plumbing, changing light bulbs and filters)
  • Read and follow blue prints and plans for installations and repairs with minimal assistance (rewire equipment, assemble and wire new equipment and troubleshoot)
  • Record downtime, repair, and PM time in FIIX
  • Removing items from inventory in FIIX
  • Complete assigned tasks with minimal assistance
  • Independent and efficient operation most yard equipment for repairs and safe transportation of equipment
  • Perform daily inspection of rigging and mobile equipment
  • Perform proper rigging techniques
  • Actively support all EHS and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Performs additional requests as required.

Education and/or Experience:


  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2+ years experience specifically related to equipment maintenance to include an understanding of electrical required
  • Knowledge of materials, processes, quality, methods and tools involved in fabrication is desired.
  • Experience in a production environment with the pressures of knowing maintenance directly impacts the operation

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


  • Able to troubleshoot and problem-solve basic mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Understanding of and ability to read blue prints.
  • Ability to properly utilize power tools such as drill press, welder, iron work, cutting torches and other miscellaneous hand tools
  • Able to locate and reference all work instructions pertaining to current job or project.
  • Sense of urgency and accountability.

Physical demands and work environment:

The physical demands listed here are representative of the essential functions of this job. Employee could be called upon to lift and carry heavy objects in a heavy manufacturing environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, bend and squat, frequently reaching with hands and arms. Possible climbing, lifting, balancing and stooping. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to or will work near moving mechanical parts; change in indoor climate conditions and vibration. Will be exposed to seasonal conditions. Will also be exposed to dirt, dust and other by products of heavy fabrication work.
