Job Title: Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant - Orthopedics Location: Novi MI Department: Orthopedics Position Overview: Henry Ford Health is seeking a dedicated and skilled Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our inpatient orthopedic team at Providence Novi Hospital. This role involves providing comprehensive care to orthopedic patients, including preoperative and postoperative care, as well as managing acute fractures in collaboration with the trauma team. The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of inpatient acute care experience in orthopedics, including fracture management, and will possess strong communication skills and the ability to work within a multidisciplinary team. Physician Assistant (PA) credential preferred, but Nurse Practitioners (NPs) with appropriate experience will also be considered. There is no on-call component, and the main location will be at the Novi campus, with occasional coverage at the Southfield campus. Initial training will take place at Southfield before transitioning to Novi. This is not an operative position, and new graduates are not eligible for consideration. Provides direct diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive health care services under the supervision of a physician. Responsibilities: Obtains patient history and performs assessment. Orders, performs and interprets diagnostic procedures.| Provides and documents direct treatment and management of health conditions.| Provides counseling and education of patients and their families/caregivers concerning preventative health, treatment options and community resources.| Performs preventative health assessments, screening, immunizations and care. Licensure / Certification / Registration: - BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted. - Physician Assistant credentialed from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Verified by local Credentialing Office. - Physician Assistant with Prescriptive Authority credentialed from the Michigan Board Physician Assistants Task Force obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Verified by local Credentialing Office. - Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted. Education: - Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program required. - Master's degree preferred. Work Experience: - 1 year of experience preferred. #APP Qualifications: * NP - Completion of a Nurse Practitioner training program accredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) * PA - Completion of a Physician Assistant training program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) * NP - Certification by a certification body recognized by the State of Michigan * PA - Certification by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) Licensure and Certification * Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the state of Michigan, or in process of applying (must have proof of application) * National certification as an NP or PA (e.g., ANCC, AANP, NCCPA) * Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required by American Heart Association. * Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required by American Heart Association. * DEA/CSL, required through credentialing. DEA - NPs do not have controlled substance licenses, only PAs. When NPs apply, they will enter MI license number instead of controlled substance license since they won't have a CSL. Experience * Minimum of 1 year in-patient acute care experience.
