What You'll Do

As a General Manager of Sales and Commercial, you will be responsible for developing, leading and executing strategies ensuring the success of Dyno Nobel's Mid-West business within the priorities of: Zero Harm, People, Customers, Efficiency and Results. The position will set challenging goals for the region to deliver year on year improvement and lead collaboration and strategy alignment across all regions. Other duties include:

  • Manage P&L and aggressively drive profitability through the use of financial reporting and metrics
  • Ensure delivery of outstanding performance and achieves high level of customer satisfaction for all industry segments.
  • Leads the business in compliance with established procedures and guidelines in the areas of people, equipment, material and environmental, safety, cost performance, asset utilization, customer, product and service delivery.
  • Highest level of management and ownership of safety, influencing and leading by example and to ensure compliance with HSE performance standards
  • Consistent and visible leadership presence across the region and sites
  • Assessment, development, and management of talent in building a high-performance team.
  • Drive commitment to the Talent Cycle through coaching, development, succession plans and mitigation of people risks across region
  • Develop and execute business strategy based on a sound understanding of individual customers requirements, market segments, resources and an outstanding understanding of market dynamics
  • Manage and own transition of customers/independents to new structure and financial accountabilities
  • Improve and expand customer relationships within region leading to increased profitability
  • Leverage deep knowledge of operations and markets to develop value selling strategies.
  • Effectively communicate with across the organization and matrix to leverage technical expertise with growth/improvement mindset to better service current and prospective customers
  • Leverage knowledge of site operations to constantly drive cost and operational improvements

What We're Looking For:

  • 10+ years management experience, with at least 5 years at a Regional or Senior level, within a relevant industry (mining or heavy industry)
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent preferred
  • Proven experience with sales and site operations as a regional manager or senior executive
  • Advanced people leadership/management skills including leadership, coaching and performance management
  • Ability to develop site operating plans and effectively execute them
  • Experience with manufacturing of emulsion matrix, bulk truck delivery, and on-bench blasting operations preferred
  • Experience with safety, environment, quality, maintenance, and training systems.
  • Sound computer literacy, advanced use of Microsoft Suite
  • Strong understanding and acceptance of responsibility for compliance to relevant OSHA, ATF, DOT and EPA
  • Positive attitude, friendly demeanor, and a team player
