The Friendship Line Volunteer Coordinator (Sacramento Area) provides administrative and training support while performing a variety of clerical functions, scheduling, and assisting Training Manager in fulfilling contract/grant requirements; organizational tasks for the Friendship Line. A primary role of this position is training and supporting Friendship Line volunteers and Interns. The below are some of the duties of this position, but are not limited to this list alone.

Essential Duties:

Scheduling and Training:

  • Coordinates background checks and orientations with Training Supervisor.
  • Trains local and remote volunteers on Friendship Line data base and call center.
  • Schedules volunteers and interns for phone shifts and supervises 2 call center hubs (located in Carmichael and Grass Valley).
  • Works Friendship Line shifts providing team lead coverage for vacant team lead shifts and vacations as needed.
  • Schedule will be Tuesday through Saturday.
  • Assists Training Manager in training and evaluating volunteers and interns with focus on in-person training and support in Grass Valley and Sacramento call centers.
  • Actively participates in recruiting and communication that promote good public relations with participants, their families and friends, visitors, and creates a harmonious volunteer community.

Administrative and Office Duties

  • Responsible for a range of office functions and providing assistance to Training and Education Supervisor and Sr. Director.
  • Coordinates with Training Education Supervisor to develop effective office systems, forms, record keeping, database management and reporting.
  • Coordinates and orders office supplies and inventory.

Outreach and Community Work:

  • Coordinates and presents the Friendship Line and volunteer opportunities to the Sacramento and Grass Valley communities.
  • Assists Training Manager in fulfilling goals in education / outreach to community partners and volunteers sources. This includes occasional in-services to other agencies to represent the Friendship Line and provide presentations when appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Two years' work experience in healthcare, non-profit, and or customer service.
  • Some College required and Bachelor's Degree preferred; prefer course of study in health-related field, including gerontology, psychology, or health sciences. Will consider candidate with work experience in lieu of formal college education.
    • Computer proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint) and database management.
    • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills; detail-oriented; ability to multi-task and to follow through to project completion.
    • Flexibility and patience to work in a busy team environment.
    • Ability to take direction and to refer issues beyond scope of their duties to appropriate channels.
    • Experience learning and using databases preferred.
    • Experience working with older adults preferred.
    • Proven excellent telephone skills; ability to type accurately at 60WPM.

Physical Requirements:

  • Talk or hear during face-to-face communications in a shared office space.
  • Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
  • Possess multi-limb and eye-hand coordination.
  • Sit at desk for prolonged periods of time while working on computers.
  • May be required to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing more than or equal to 40 pounds without assistance.

COMPENSATION:

Range: $29 - $34/hourly
