Position: Senior Engineering Technician

What we are looking for:

Stem is a leading provider of renewable energy monitoring systems. The Engineering Technician is responsible for providing support to the engineering team by assisting with creation, deployment and repair of new system drivers, data servers, power supplies, LAN/WAN networks and basic SCADA systems and configuration. This is a Senior level position with opportunity into the SCADA, Controls, Storage and Solar industries. This person will also work on other engineering support and deployment projects as required.

Responsibilities:

  • Helping Stem solve engineering tasks with our internal products and working with our Engineering Team to resolve more advanced issues when necessary.

  • Developing and implementing device drivers and data servers for our platform.

  • Implement and diagnose complex IP LAN/WAN network infrastructures.

  • Commission DAS hardware and conduct platform data validation.

  • Reviewing Scope of Work (SOW) documentation.

  • Answering questions from customers about the specific requirements of their solution.

  • Developing documentation for tools used to analyze or fix software on an as-needed basis.

  • Documenting troubleshooting and problem resolution steps.

  • Providing training and documentation to STEM employees and customers as required.

  • Providing internal technical support for more complex issues escalated from our Support Team.

  • Provide training and assistance for domestic and international implementations engineering projects.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field with 5+ years of experience, or 8+ years of equivalent work experience in lieu of a degree.

  • Knowledge of Modbus/DNP3/OPC protocols, datatypes and ability to learn large software systems.

  • Strong understanding of solar, energy storage, fire suppression systems and alarm systems.

  • Strong listening skills with the ability to analyze a problem and develop a comprehensive solution.

  • Excellent written communication skills, as a significant portion of the work involves writing emails, documentation, and other materials.

  • Professional and courteous phone etiquette, as some support will be provided over the phone.

  • Windows and UNIX troubleshooting ability.

  • Ability to work without supervision.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field

  • Knowledge of DNS, TCP/IP and other internetworking concepts preferred.

  • Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS) or Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems is a plus.

Salary Range$72,560.00 - $108,840.00
