Fairfax Behavioral Health, founded in 1930, is a private, free-standing mental health hospital that specializes in psychiatric and detox treatment. Position Summary:

The Education Support Specialist educates students and adheres to policies and procedures relating to all phases of education in accordance with current state and federal special education standards. In addition, the Education Support Specialist is responsible for planning, coordinating, implementing, and supervising the student's school instruction, including tracking IEP goal progress, collaborating with school of record to continue education during the hospital stay, writing IEPs, tracking data for progress reporting, and maintaining frequent communication with school personnel and guardians. As an active member of the treatment team, this position provides continuous individualized student care, observation, interaction, documentation, and role modeling to students. Responsible for personal and Corporate Service Excellence Standards.


Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Bachelor's Degree or higher in education, psychology, special education or related field

Experience:At least two years of experience in a behavioral, residential, or Special Education/Emotional and Behavioral Disorders classroom setting

Licensure: Valid teaching credential or meet requirements as a Paraeducator

Additional Requirements: Successful completion of CPR and First Aid certification. Successful completion of Handle With Care (HWC) and verbal de-escalation training. Successful completion of orientation training.
