Financial Counselor Opportunity - Behavioral Health

Fuller Hospital is a 109-bed licensed, private psychiatric facility located in South Attleboro, Massachusetts providing inpatient and outpatient behavioral health services to residents of Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Inpatient units are designed to treat adults with general psychiatric or intellectual disabilities, as well as adolescents with general psychiatric issues. Patients with co-occurring psychiatric and substance abuse disorders can be treated on most units. Fuller Hospital also provides a less intensive Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) to patients with psychiatric and co-occurring psychiatric and substance abuse disorders.

The Financial Counselor is responsible for interviewing and counseling patients about all aspects of the patient accounting process around their treatment at Fuller Hospital.

Responsibilities

  • Verifies patient insurance coverage with third-party payers via website or telephone daily on all current patients, as well as new admissions
  • Researches alternative insurance or payment options while navigating and updating various patient accounting systems
  • Assembles admission and insurance records for new admissions and submits them in the system
  • Calculates and collects patient's co-insurance, co-pay and deductibles based on verified policy provisions
  • Assists patients with completing Medicaid applications and follows up on submissions
  • Assists patients with questions about their bills
  • Assists medical staff with insurance questions
  • Reviews self-pay accounts and calls on unpaid balances to collect
  • Sets up payment plans
  • Prepares non-collectible accounts for bad debt
  • Trains new admissions staff on initial insurance verification

Requirements

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required
  • Experience: Two (2) years of behavioral health billing/collections experience preferred
