Responsibilities
This full-time opportunity offers 40-hours per week, full benefits, and a convenient morning/evening shift schedule. Midwest Center for Youth and Families (a subsidiary of UHS) has been in operation since 1997, serving youth across the country that are in need of psychiatric treatment for variety of mental health issues. The Midwest Center is a respected healthcare provider, fully accredited, 74-bed private, residential treatment facility with locations in Valparaiso and Kouts, IN. We are dedicated to care of the hearts and minds of our patients with compassion and superior quality behavioral healthcare services through our full-immersion Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) program for children and adolescents ages 10 - 18 who struggle with emotional, behavioral and mental health challenges. The Patriot Support Program at Midwest Center offers specialized treatment designed to address the behavioral health needs and challenges of the children of active-duty military, reserve, and national guard members. The Activity Specialist provides and coordinates therapeutic recreational programming incorporating DBT skills. Qualifications Activity Specialist Education: High school diploma or GED is required. APC certification within two years of hire or transfer required. Activity Specialist Job Requirements: 1-2 years of work experience with children in an extra curricular activity required. Must be at least 21 years of age.
