Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position
* Bachelors degree in a related area of Information Technology or equivalent years of experience and/or training in Information Technology.
* Over 7 years of technical experience in a systems infrastructure role, applying advanced infrastructure concepts in fast-paced, demanding 24/7 environments such as hospitals and higher education institutions.
* Extensive experience working with vendors like Agfa, Omnicell, Varian, VMware, Arista, Dell/EMC, PFSense, and F5, translating vendor and organizational requirements to integrate and consolidate diverse IT systems effectively.
* Minimum of 7 years in Systems Administration with a focus on Infrastructure.
* Expertise in architecting, designing, and supporting virtual infrastructure environments, SAN storage solutions, network infrastructure, VLAN firewall clusters, and application delivery controllers across multiple datacenters.
* Proficient in conducting advanced analysis of IT environments to deliver comprehensive technical solutions that address business challenges, resolve highly complex issues, and optimize data centers within management requirements, budget constraints, and compliance frameworks such as UCOP IS3 and industry best practices.
* Demonstrated expertise in Windows and Linux server management, Active Directory administration, and deployment of cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP), including automation, monitoring, and secure configurations.
* Strong familiarity with the ITIL framework, including request and change management workflows, asset management, and the technological integration of systems such as hospital information systems (e.g., VMACS) and monitoring solutions. Excellent soft skills with the ability to communicate complex technical topics effectively to both executive and technical audiences, ensuring alignment and understanding across diverse teams.

Preferred Qualifications
* Knowledge with applying the following security frameworks: NIST, PCI, HIPAA, GDPR and IS3/UC Davis CyberSafety (If current or previously employed with UC Davis) General knowledge and experience in conducting security risk assessments and developing risk mitigation strategies to proactively identify and address potential security vulnerabilities and threats. Demonstrated experience with disaster recovery strategies for Windows-based systems, Active Directory, and cloud infrastructure to ensure business continuity and data integrity using tools such as Veeam, MS Data Protection Manager, CA Arcserve and etc.
* Organizational skills and experience using project management principles to define goals, organize and schedule complex technology projects, coordinate project execution, and manage teams as well as, experience using Change Management processes and workflows. Interpersonal, oral and written communication skills to interact with a diverse group of people to include faculty, clinicians, students and staff. Ability to implicitly give and receive directions, information, and knowledge to and from other team members, users, co-workers, managers and vendors.
* Experience working in a hospital environment and/or a higher education environment and demonstrated ability to work individually and as a member of a team.

This position is part of the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine Information Technology (SVM-IT) department. SVM-IT is a matrix organization consisting of the three main functions of IT Operations, Application Development and Project Management. SVM-IT provides services to the faculty, students, staff and affiliates of both the School of Veterinary Medicine, the California Animal Health and Food Safety Lab System (CAHFS), and the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital (VMTH).
