At Performance Drone Works (PDW), we're at the forefront of creating custom small unmanned aerial systems (sUAS) for the modern warfighter. PDW is proudly American owned, with all design, engineering, and manufacturing of our products taking place domestically.

Role PDW is seeking a highly skilled Product Manager to drive the development and evolution of our cutting-edge simulation solutions for unmanned aerial systems (UAS). This role is focused on leading a portfolio of simulation technologies, ensuring seamless integration with real-world UAS platforms, and enhancing training, testing, and mission-planning capabilities.

Responsibilities The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development, and a deep understanding of user interfaces (UI), Standard Communication Protocols (such as MAVLink), familiar with open-source autopilot software (such as PX4 and ardupilot) and control/mission planning software (such as QGroundControl (QGC)). The successful candidate will drive product strategy, manage software roadmaps, and collaborate with engineering teams to develop and enhance mission-critical drone software solutions.


  • Define and communicate the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for simulation environments, aligning with company goals.
  • Conduct market research and user analysis to identify opportunities and define product requirements.
  • Prioritize features and manage the product backlog, ensuring timely and high-quality product releases.
  • Develop and implement robust product integration and software release cycles.
  • Collaborate with engineering and QA to ensure thorough software testing and maintain quality standards.
  • Champion user-centered design and ensure positive user experience throughout the product.
  • Oversee the accurate modeling of sensors within the simulation environment.
  • Analyze product performance using KPIs and data analysis, driving data-informed decisions.
  • Manage stakeholder communication, gathering feedback and ensuring alignment across teams.
  • Understand and incorporate advanced simulation techniques, including physics engines, rendering, and data management.


Requirements


  • 5+ years of experience in product management for software, robotics, or unmanned systems, with deep knowledge of physics-based simulation technologies.
  • Experience leading Agile software development teams and managing product roadmaps.
  • Proficiency with physics-based simulation engines, with experience synthetic environment generation.
  • Experience in defining and managing software release cycles.
  • Experience working with software testing and QA teams.
  • Demonstrated understanding of user experience (UX) principles and best practices.
  • Excellent time management, strong communication skills, and a passion for product design and development.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of sensor modeling, including various sensor types (e.g., LiDAR, radar, cameras), their characteristics, and their integration into simulation environments.


ITAR Requirement
