The salary range for this position takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.

At WGU, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their position, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is:

Pay Range: $68,600.00 - $103,000.00

Job Description

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Provides expertise in an assigned content area and maintains current knowledge in his/her field. A Senior Instructor takes proactive ownership in ongoing professional development.

  • Offers thorough, comprehensive support, coaching, and guidance to a load of assigned students, and may include serving a comparatively larger load or complex profile of students based on demonstrated competency and capabilities, as well as serving those at-risk students who may particularly benefit from a partnership with the Senior Instructor.

  • Offers support to new Instructors during initial new Instructor onboarding and new student onboarding to prepare their new teammates to meet or exceed student success goals.

  • Provides peer coaching and training on instructional best practices.

  • Responds with urgency to meet student needs and communicates professionally and respectfully with students and all other members of the WGU community.

  • Offers proactive support and outreach to assigned and at-risk students.

  • Uses technology-based teaching and communication platforms to aid students in the development of competencies.

  • Leads change by innovating and piloting new technologies, products, and processes.

  • Collaborates with other professionals both inside and outside of the university to promote a positive, student-obsessed atmosphere.

  • Serves as a dedicated liaison to other key departments and stakeholders to increase efficiency and clear, consistent communication to benefit their team or college.

  • Facilitates product and process training efforts within their team or college to increase core and product knowledge.

  • Consistently exhibits WGU's Leadership Principles.

  • Conducts and coordinates peer observation and structured feedback to provide constructive criticism for growth and proliferate best practices across their team or college.

  • Participates in strategic planning activities.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements

  • Active, Unencumbered compact/multistate RN licensure with ability to secure additional licensure in Michigan and Minnesota within 90 days of employment. Must have the ability to secure active, unencumbered license in all states as required for role if required.

  • 3 years of highly successful academic practice, based on student outcomes, in the role area/practice working with students in global population health and/or community health.

  • Available to work a student-centered schedule, including evenings and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Terminal degree and all applicable domain-specific licenses or certifications.

  • 3 years of relevant professional experience, including 1 year of teaching online.

  • Strong experience with distance education and distance learning students.

  • CNE

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Position & Application Details
