General Responsibilities |
THIS IS AN APPLICANT POOL TO BE UTILIZED AS NECESSARY BY THE BUSINESS DEPARTMENT
The Business Department at Howard Community College (
HCC) is seeking individuals with business backgrounds to serve as adjunct (part-time) faculty for core business courses. We are looking for instructors passionate about sharing their knowledge and expertise to inspire and educate the next generation of business professionals. Adjunct faculty may teach one or more of the following courses in the traditional face-to-face or online 15-week 7-week formats:
BMGT-100 Introduction to Business BMGT-120 Small Business Management BMGT-130 Principles of Marketing BMGT-145 Principles of Management BMGT-151 Business Law (Juris Doctor Required) BMGT-203 Business Ethics BMGT-204 Personal Branding BMGT-205 Principles of International Business BMGT-206 Business Analysis for Decision Making BMGT-207 Data Visualization BMGT-208 Fundamentals of Selling BMGT-241 Project Management ENTR-113 Introduction to Entrepreneurship ENTR-210 Business Plan Design & Delivery FNPL-101 Financial Planning HUMN-115 Entrepreneurship & Creativity

Work Performed |
- Plan, organize, and teach curriculum content in alignment with course objectives.
- Use applicable technology and pedagogical principles to teach course content via assigned delivery format (face-to-face or online).
- Complete required institutional trainings and professional development. For online instruction, complete the professional development "Teach Online" course before or during the first semester of teaching.
- Follow department and division requirements for preparing a course syllabus.
- Plan and deliver appropriate instructional activities that promote student engagement and learning.
- Evaluate student performance using assessment tools as directed by the department. Follow grading guidelines as established by department.
- Inform students in a timely manner of their progress. Maintain an up-to-date electronic grade book and enter final grades by the established due date.
- Comply with attendance and grading requirements as established for the course.
- Participate in departmental evaluation and course assessment processes as needed.
- Maintain regular communication with students, including timely replies to student emails. Use the assigned HCC email and/or CANVAS LMS communication for all department and student communications.
- Regularly monitor HCC email for college, department, and program updates and information.
- Keep up-to-date with current business topics.

- Bachelor's degree in business or related field is required.
- Business experience required.
- Master's degree preferred.
- Prior teaching experience preferred.
- Commitment to teaching excellence and commitment to community college philosophy and mission.
- Interested candidates must be available to teach day, evening and/or online. Flexibility to teach during day is preferred.
