Gas Operations is responsible for all aspects of PG&E's gas distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, restoration and emergency response. The vision of Public Safety and Asset Integrity is to: * Improve pipeline safety and system reliability with a goal of zero safety incidents. * Promote a safety culture throughout all levels of the organization with an emphasis on improving learning from the past and anticipating the future. * Apply integrity management principles on a system-wide basis while engaging our stakeholders from local communities we operate in to our regulators so they can understand and participate in reducing our risk. * Support the design, construction, operation and maintenance of the transmission and distribution pipeline systems through the proactive use of asset knowledge, threat identification and analytical tools to increase operational efficiency, improve system integrity and minimize safety risk to employees and the communities we operate in. The Transmission Integrity Management Group is responsible for assessing the integrity of the gas transmission system, facilitating repairs when necessary, and developing and implementing strategic mitigation plans for all gas assets. Position Summary This Career Gas Engineer position will work with the In-Line Inspection (ILI) engineering team to manage and implement the ILI Program for gas transmission pipelines system-wide. This position is located within the Transmission Integrity Management Program (TIMP), which is responsible for maintaining and operating 6,700 miles of gas transmission pipelines throughout northern and central California. Pipeline safety regulations mandate the company to assess all gas transmission pipelines located in High Consequence Areas. This position will focus on planning and facilitating successful completion of inspection runs, reviewing the ILI data, selecting locations to examine pipelines based upon ILI data, assisting with technically sound repair decisions, and developing mitigation items based upon ILI results. This position will report to the Supervising Gas ILI Engineering and will be hybrid work designation. Currently the team is working from home 5 days per week. Meetings at PG&E's San Ramon Bishop Ranch office are held approximately 1-2 times per month in addition to field visits. This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory (San Ramon, CA) Position Duties (may include but are not limited to)-
This position will require approximately 30% travel time word schedule. PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors. A reasonable salary range is: Bay Area Minimum: $122,000.00 Bay Area Maximum: $194,000.00 This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E's discretionary incentive compensation programs. Job Responsibilities * Independently performs routine engineering analysis and performs lead role in determining scope, schedule, budget and resources needed. Prepares cost and materials estimates for use in client bid proposals. * Assists senior peers on more complex tests and projects, participating in planning, budgeting and testing. * Begins to develop knowledge in other areas of specialty/discipline or continues to focus on one area and increases depth of knowledge. * Completes multiple projects concurrently. Prepares tests and studies. Evaluates performance of parts, assemblies or systems under simulated operating conditions. Records results and makes recommendations based on findings. * Collaborates with peers to prepare technical reports and specifications and to identify, define, and solve problems. * May review test design of Associate level engineers to determine effectiveness and if objectives of project will be obtained. * Develops test protocols, models, test technologies and analyzes data. May assist in the development of technical policies and procedures. * Participates in identifying innovations and cost-reduction potential of new and existing technologies. * May interface with clients regarding status of project or to collect more information.
