Employer: Ciena Communications Job Title: Senior Sales Engineer, Field Systems Engineering Job Requisition:A710.251.3 Job Location: Hanover, Maryland Job Type: Full Time The annual pay range for this position is $130,312 - $164,300.00. How You Will Contribute: Duties: Act as a subject matter expert on application of CIENA products and solutions. Engineering and design of network and application solutions. Generate solution description documents to support the engineering proposal. Articulate solution unique value proposition to the customers. Develop customer presentations necessary to convey and articulate Ciena products and solutions; Present technology, Ciena platforms and solutions to Ciena's existing and potential customers. Develop strong relationships with customer account personnel invoking a sense of partnership through information sharing and good listening. Respond to "Request For Proposal" (RFP) and "Request For information" (RFI) documents submitted by customers. Prepare quotations, including equipment, materials, and services, based on each network design. Lead, organize and prepare product and solution Trials, Proof Of Concept (PoC) events and demonstrations. Lead customer engagements to discuss product solutions, industry trends, capture business insights and propose new ideas to address their business needs. Load customer purchase orders in the ordering system. Calculate, analyze, and document optical link power budgets to guarantee the optical transmission signal will reach its destination. Use complex networking simulations tools to analyze network capacity, resiliency, signal reach, spectrum channel allocation, signal performance and signaling, among other. Calculate and document network availability analysis for new and existing network designs. 50% travel required. May telecommute from anywhere in the United States. The Must Haves: Requirements: Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Engineering, Computer Science or related field and four (4) years of experience in the job offered or in a Sales Engineer-related occupation. Position requires 48 months of experience in the following: Designing, selling and documenting Submarine Line terminal Equipment (SLTE); submarine solution overlays and upgrades; terrestrial DWDM networks; photonic control plane; OTN control plane; optical solutions; packet optical networks; IP/MPLS/Packet networking and software solutions; network solution design solving; Capturing submarine and terrestrial channel performance to analyze it with regards to spectrum allocation; performing submarine and terrestrial channel data soak to collect signal performance, process the results and apply it towards further system simulations; Analyze DWDM channel spectrum allocation to maximize the fiber pair capacity; Submarine cable Straight Line Diagram (SLD), submarine fiber pair Key Parameter Table (KPT) file, and the process to extract its data to generate network simulation files; Products and solutions presentation; and calculate and document network availability analysis for new and existing network designs.
