Brady Urology at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center

The Brady Urological Institute offers diagnosis and treatment of a full range of adult urological conditions at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction, supervision and responsibility of a physician, and in accordance with established policies evaluates patient's health status through diagnostic procedures and tests. Provides therapeutic patient care under direction of a physician and in accordance with established protocols.

Nurse Practitioner/RNFA or Physician Assistant:
Competent professionals able to operate at varying levels after formalized onboarding. Developing provider able to see low to moderate acuity patients under the supervision of the attending physician and high acuity / critically ill patients with direct attending physician supervision. Able to discharge Level 4 & 5 patients independently. Expected to precept physician assistant students. A developing provider able to see the less acute patients independently, but only able to see 75% - 100% of the census expected for the shift.

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Employee demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his/her unit as indicated by the following:
* Demonstrates ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs.

* Demonstrates age appropriate communication skills.
* Demonstrates ability to provide the care needed as described in the job description and the department's scope of service for the patient groups under his/her care.

2. Daily post-operative rounding and follow-up with the urology department's patients. PA will monitor the patients' progress and provide any care or assistance as needed, or as ordered by the attending physicians, e.g., H&P exams. Consult with both the attending surgeon and staff providing services to the patients.
3. Is responsible for admission history and physical exams as needed, daily progress notes, daily orders and discharge summaries as requested by attending.
4. Evaluates urology patients in the emergency room and surgical floor consults.
5. Communicates with other departments and physicians concerning the patients' treatment (e.g., primary care physician, case management, and social work).
6. Implements patient teaching and record all pertinent and accurate information on appropriate medical records and reports.
7. Maintains adequate level of specialty supplies.
8. Performs all other duties as required or assigned to assure patient needs are met.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
1. Master's or Doctorate Degree in Nursing, Nurse Practitioner in Adult, Acute Care, FNP and certofoed as an RNFA or Bachelor's or Master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies.

2. Must be board certified by AANP or ANCC for CRNP or NCCPA for PA and maintain a minimum CME.

3. Previous experience as an Acute Care Inpatient NP or PA preferred. For NP, RNFA experience required, Urology experience preferred. First Assist Experience preferred.

LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS:
1. Current license as a CRNP or Physician Assistant in the state of Maryland.
2. Eligible to obtain the Maryland DEA license.

3. Current CPR certification.

Salary Range: Minimum $53.15/hour - Maximum $82.38/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.

In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
