As a Product Design Engineer, you will be responsible to design, model, analyze, and characterize injection molded plastic, sheet metal, and cast aluminum enclosures for our Connected Mobility Solutions business unit. In this role, you will provide technical expertise in enclosure design and electronic packaging for the automotive market. This is a dynamic group of highly skilled professionals that will provide an opportunity for constant learning and innovation. This role will be engaged in projects from idea to high volume production. The successful applicant will have the ability to, with direction from management, appropriately plan and see assignments through to completion. The applicant will also meet project schedules, manage risks, and systematically solve problems. What You Will Do * Be a team member in a global organization designing and developing USB and Wireless Charger products for the automotive market. * You will be interfacing with professional cross functional team members in our electrical engineering team, manufacturing integration team, program management, sales organization, state of the art test laboratories, high tech R&D model shop, and manufacturing plants * Design and develop new injection molded and cast aluminum enclosures for automotive-grade USB chargers and Wireless Chargers * Collaborate to develop cost competitive and creative designs with the manufacturing, sourcing, and electrical engineering team that are efficient to manufacture while meeting our high-performance customer requirements * Support Manufacturing and Quality Assurance during product launches and have travel opportunities to visit our manufacturing sites and meet the global team * Create relationships with global cross functional team members and peers through design collaboration * Work with marketing and external customers to help strategize on overall design. Who You Are (Basic Qualifications) * Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline * 3+ years of experience in Product Design Engineering * Knowledge in developing engineering documentation including DFMEAs. * Experience with Tolerance Analysis studies. * Proficiency in CAD, preferably in NX * Ability to interpret 2D engineering prints * Understanding of Plastic and sheet metal manufacturing process (Stamping, injection molding, insert molding, casting) What Will Put You Ahead * Experience with stamping, plating, or plastic injection molding. * Experience with automotive design (DFMEA, 8D, DOE) For this role, we anticipate paying $90,000 - $110,000 per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form. At Koch companies, we are entrepreneurs.
