Join HGA's Healthcare Team as a Digital Design Specialist - Milwaukee Office!

HGA's Healthcare (HC) practice is seeking a Digital Design Specialist to join our Milwaukee office. This role is focused on providing Revit-specific support to architects, planners, and designers involved in project delivery, with a strong emphasis on excellence, collaboration, and digital innovation.

As a Digital Design Specialist, you will take ownership of Revit model setup and ongoing management for architectural models on active healthcare projects. While most of your work will support Milwaukee-based teams, you may occasionally collaborate with other HC teams across HGA offices.

You'll also receive dedicated training and support from HGA's national Digital Practice Group (DPG) to ensure consistency with firmwide standards and best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

    Lead Revit model setup and ongoing management on active healthcare projects

  • Provide hands-on support, troubleshooting, and content development for project teams

  • Collaborate with HGA's Digital Practice Group to align with firmwide standards and workflows

  • Support implementation of digital design strategies and client-specific BIM requirements

  • Assist in promoting and developing BIM capabilities across the healthcare practice

In this role you will:

  1. setup the Revit model using HGA BIM standard workflows;
  2. maintain and manage Revit model health for smooth operation/performance of the models;
  3. troubleshoot Revit user issues within the broader HC team;
  4. assist with BIM coordination responsibilities where necessary;
  5. provide continuing quality assurance with project teams to maintain BIM quality and standards;
  6. ensure adherence to BIM execution plans and firm-wide modeling and information standards.Communicate/coordinate BIM related workflows with project team;
  7. coordinate with BIM leads in other disciplines;
  8. attend coordination / clash detection meetings as necessary;
  9. represent the respective team/discipline in regular Revit meetings as needed;
  10. manage requests from HC team members for content creation on project specific content;
  11. maintain continuity of information across multiple applications.
  12. provide general setup, configuration, and customization of standard design and production applications;
  13. assist in training and provide technical support for HGA staff, both one-on-one and in group class setting; and
  14. handle customization, trouble shooting and product testing. Warning and Error messages management.

Additionally, with respect to Revit specific responsibilities, you will perform:

  • Model Set Up, which includes:
    • Starter file setup with appropriate Revit Content, View templates, and parameters
    • Existing conditions modeling and linking other discipline models
    • Coordinate / Update the Survey and Project Base point location in Revit.
    • Confirm that all team members use appropriate versions/builds of Revit.
  • Model Maintenance, which includes:
    • Clearing critical warnings and errors.
    • Troubleshooting Revit issues for the team.
    • Coordinating workset setup for each discipline.
    • Ensuring that Revit files are regularly audited.
    • Collecting and Managing Links of required parties.
    • Organizing and maintaining Revit project browser.
    • Resolving any Coordination Review issues.
    • Removing unnecessary views, design options, links (CAD and Revit), line styles, families, images.
    • Purging as necessary unused elements not captured in the list above.
    • Reviewing elements to ensure they are meeting the Level of Development (LOD) specified in the BIM Execution Plan.
  • Model Coordination with direction from Project Architect (PA) and team, which includes:
    • Coordinating with other disciplines/vendors for modeling and drawings, sheet setup and area creation.
      • Coordinating respective disciplines plotting / creation of sheet files using the proper print settings and view templates.
      • Ensuring the naming, numbering, and assembly of drawings is accurately set up.
      • Updating the titleblock with latest issuance title and date.
    • Coordinating exports to CAD, Navisworks, etc. as required.
    • Reviewing the Drawing Index and make sure appropriate sheets are included in the set.
    • Model Closeout, which includes:
      • Archiving documents associated with milestone submission.


You will need to have:

  • Associate degree and preferably 2-5 years of experience working on architectural projects in Revit
  • Familiarity with basic construction types
  • Strong communication skills
  • Problem-solving skills, attention to detail and motivation to learn
  • Collaborative and professional work ethic
  • Strong knowledge and use of Revit and standard Microsoft Office products like Outlook, Word, Excel
  • Intermediate knowledge and use of Sketchup, Rhino, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Adobe Creative Suite
  • A demonstrated understanding of project workflows from design to construction administration, building from knowledge of industry standards, workflows and data formats.Certification in Revit (preferred but not required)


Salary Information:

The pay range listed aligns to the geography of the office for which this position is posted. Actual compensation will be based upon work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Individuals in this role working more than 24 hours a week on a regular basis are eligible to participate in HGA's robust benefit programs which include an annual bonus and success sharing bonus program, 401(k) guaranteed contribution, paid parental leave, medical, dental and life insurance plans as well as PTO and short- and long-term disability programs. Salary Range: $26.15 - $33.08/hour.



Additional Information:

Please note: This position is not intended for individuals with a professional architecture degree. If you are highly skilled in Revit but have limited experience with Rhino or other architectural design software, we still encourage you to apply. Familiarity with similar modeling tools often makes learning Rhino quick and manageable, and training opportunities will be available as needed.
