Welder

Performs fitting and welding procedures to assemble large filter units. Uses sanders to finish metal surfaces and connections.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Operates various hand tools, such as pliers, vice grips, hammers, squares, chisels, and screwdrivers, and power tools, such as grinders, drills, come-a-longs, saws, hydraulic knock-outs, and hydraulic jacks, to fit filter units.
• Uses TIG welding to put together parts of a filter unit.
• Reads blueprints to know how to fit metal parts together.
• Measures and uses math skills to accurately place parts and drill holes.
• Operates a crane or hand truck to move filter units.
• Performs minor maintenance on the welding machines.
• Performs housekeeping duties in the welding area.
• Performs other duties as assigned by management.

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must successfully pass a Flanders TIG Welding test.
• Must be capable of learning to build any product from a blueprint with minimal assistance.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Various welding skills are needed.
• Skill is needed to be able to operate hand and power tools.

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:

• 6 months experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
