I&E Technician

Huntsman is seeking an I&E Technician supporting the Advanced Materials Division located in McIntosh, Alabama. This position will report to the Maintenance Team Lead.

Job Scope

Primary - Maintenance Electrician.

The Maintenance Electrician shall be responsible for maintenance and repair of electrical and refrigeration equipment to assure its proper operation and incidental related work or other classifications the employee is capable of performing. The Maintenance Electrician shall attend to housekeeping in the Maintenance Electrician work area. The Maintenance Electrician shall also perform the duties performed by the Maintenance Mechanic.

Secondary - Instrument Mechanic.

The Instrument Mechanic shall be responsible for performing all types of instrumentation work as assigned so as to assure the proper operation of instruments and related equipment including fabrication, installation, check-out, calibration, repair and maintenance of components, instruments, systems, and auxiliary equipment; performs work from schematics, blueprints, drawings, instruction manuals, and/or other data, using all test equipment required. The Instrument Mechanic shall attend to housekeeping in the Instrument Mechanic work area. In addition to the foregoing, the Instrument Mechanic shall perform all duties pertaining to and connected with this classification and incidental related work of other classifications the employee is capable of performing.

In summary, as the I&E Technician, you will:

• Perform maintenance and testing of low and medium voltage switchgear, circuit breakers, and motor starters.
• Conduct electrical maintenance work on equipment including, but not limited to, pumps, fans, motors, valves, and other assigned electrical devices or instruments.
• Perform electrical maintenance work related to energy from waste air pollution control systems.
• Troubleshoot, assess, inspect, adjust, and make repairs as needed to all facility flow, pressure, temperature, and level instrumentation, including transmitter flow devices, level controls, temperature measurement, and flue gas analysis equipment.
• Operate various calibration equipment and perform electrical and instrumentation maintenance and repair work as assigned using proper safety practices.
• Troubleshoot electrical and instrumentation problems and complete all maintenance work records. Maintain preventative maintenance records.
• Actively participate in plant shutdown work, including teardown inspection of electrical plant equipment.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Provide prompt support to process equipment upsets or deviations and execute preventative maintenance and routine loop tests.
• Contribute to site reliability improvements by actively providing feedback on instrument performance.
• Analyze, troubleshoot, and repair instruments, controls, electrical equipment, or other related plant assets.
• Provide instrument installation support for maintenance and project activities, including instrument setup and field preparation for installation.
• Work with information provided from specification documents and engineering drawings to support solution development and implementation.
• Execute work orders as delivered by the Maintenance Supervisor.
• Maintain and calibrate field instruments.

Other general responsibilities:

• Follows instructions and performs other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.
• Assists other employees in accomplishment of Huntsman company goals.
• Participates in and completes company-required training programs.
• Participates in Environmental, Health, & Safety initiatives as set forth by the company. An aptitude for Safety, safe work practices, good housekeeping, and continuous improvement required.

Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in the United States.

This position may require some involvement with materials regulated under the Resource conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA). This involvement may require an understanding of applicable rules and procedures associated with RCRA wastes. A combination of training methods, e.g., Computer-based Training, Classroom, and/or On-the-job training, will be provided prior to any such involvement with RCRA regulated wastes.

Minimum Qualifications

• Technical or Voc Tech in Electrical OR AIDT Training (Industrial Training (Electrical).
• 7+ years of relevant work experience OR May be substituted with 10 years OTJ electrical / instrumentation training/experience.

Skills and knowledge

• Computer skills - requires the use of office computers.
• Direct plant experience in a chemical, refinery or paper manufacturing environment a plus.

Assessment

• A technical assessment is required as part of the candidate evaluation process. Applicants must receive a passing score on the assessment, which tests the applicant's knowledge of, and familiarity with, basic manufacturing equipment and processes. Applicants not receiving a passing score must wait 6 months before retesting. Receipt of a passing score is a minimum requirement; it does not guarantee the applicant will be selected for the role.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

• Valid Driver's License.
• Craft certification a plus.
