Who we are and what we do:

The mission of the Tennessee Department of Correction (TDOC) is to operate safe and secure prisons and provide effective community supervision in order to enhance public safety. The department manages and operates or oversees 14 state prisons housing approximately 21,000 offenders. In addition, the department supervises some 79,000 offenders on probation, parole, or community correction and operates seven Day Reporting/Community Resource Centers across the state. The department is fully accredited by the American Correctional Association (ACA).

How you make a difference in this role:

This position will function as a Tennessee Department of Correction (TDOC) Contracting and Procurement Specialist. The individual selected for this position will report to the Deputy Procurement Director. On a daily basis they will assist with the writing of, prepare Purchase Orders for all contracts, process requisitions for all Divisions, communicate with vendors both verbally and in writing regarding contract amendments, submit Rule Exception Requests, and prepare Fiscal Review Documents. There may be additional contract and procurement related duties assigned on an as needed basis. This position may be authorized to work and alternate work schedule no more than 2 days per week, contingent on job performance.

Job Overview:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assists in the writing of Requests for Proposal and Request for Information documents.
  • Prepares Memo of Understanding, Interagency Agreements, Statements of Work, and Delegated Authority documents.
  • Create Purchase Orders.
  • Process requisitions as needed for all Central Office Divisions.
  • Receive items in Edison once they have been delivered.
  • Prepare and submit Rule Exception Requests for approval.
  • Prepare and submit Fiscal Review Documents.
  • Communicate with vendors both verbally and in writing regarding contract amendments, invoicing issues, and any other issues that need to be addressed. ' Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree is preferred from an accredited college or university and/or a minimum of five (5) or more years of full-time increasingly responsible professional experience in the following areas: Contracting and/or Purchasing.
