Qualifications

Education and Experience: A Bachelor's degree.

Substitution of Experience of Education: Experience as an Intelligence Analyst at TBI can be substituted for the required education.

NSQ: Applicants for this class must:
1. Be a citizen of the United States;
2. Supply a fingerprint sample in a manner prescribed by the TBI for a fingerprint based criminal history records check;
3. Complete a criminal history and background disclosure form in a manner approved by the appointing authority and agree to release all records involving any criminal history or necessary records to the appointing authority;
4. Be subject to an intense background investigation in a manner prescribed by the appointing authority, which includes but not limited to a check of State and Federal criminal records, driving history, social media accounts, credit check, education, military, previous employment, drug use, and reference verification.

Overview

This classification analyzes evidence, crime reports, and available intelligence sources to assist internal and external customers in the investigation and successful prosecution of crime. This classification performs responsibilities at the entry/training level under close supervision and guidance of a supervisor. This series has second and third levels that function at a more complex capacity.

*An applicant appointed to this Career Path series will be reclassified to the next higher class in the series after successful completion of a mandatory probation period; `unacceptable' or `needs improvement' performance during the probation period will result in automatic demotion or termination.

Responsibilities

1. Gathers information in support of criminal investigations or public safety.
2. Provides analysis of investigative information, computer, accounting or other specialized data in support of criminal investigations or public safety.
3. Facilitate information and intelligence sharing among stakeholders to collaborate with internal and external customers.
4. Composes a comprehensive report of intelligence to document investigative and/or support activities.
5. Manages access and oversees compliance of crime database information in support of criminal investigations or public safety.
6. Participates in developmental training focused on intelligence analysis to enhance proficiency in daily tasks.
7. Maintains confidentiality and discretion to preserve the integrity of criminal investigations and work-related activities. Exhibits good judgment and decision making in a high pressure or high-risk environment to determine a proper course of action.
