Retail Communications Consultant
Summary/Basic Purpose:
Supports the development of the overall communications strategy for the Retail and Small Business segment and ownership for key delivery components. Leads strategy, content development and distribution, serving as the editor-in-chief for the weekly Retail Bank newsletter. Oversees content strategy, managing the editorial calendar and creating communication plans to support organizational goals. Collaborates with key stakeholders to ensure effective messaging aligned with company and Retail priorities. Responsible for the creation and distribution of internal communications across various formats, managing content management systems to optimize internal communications, and collecting and analyzing data insights to improve communication effectiveness. The role requires balancing strategic messaging with stakeholder engagement to drive impactful and efficient communication within the organization.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Content Development & Distribution
- Serves as editor-in-chief for the weekly newsletter for the Retail Bank, ensuring its efficacy as the central content tool for organization.
- Manages editorial calendar, balancing communications for greatest effectiveness.
- Consults with partners to establish the communication strategy for key business changes and strategic initiatives within or impacting the Retail and Small Business segment to support successful change execution.
- Manages creation and distribution of messaging, as needed, for colleague communications through targeted emails, enterprise-wide emails, intranet articles, presentations, FAQs, talking points, key messages, scripts, videos, etc.
- Designs and develops supporting visual aids, as needed, to further communication awareness and understanding (e.g., infographics, videos, banners, logos, presentation slides).
Strategic Planning & Consulting
- Serves as a trusted communications advisor and consultant to key stakeholders and peers, providing guidance and developing strategic communication plans to help them meet desired goals.
- Represents Retail communications on cross-functional project committees and workstreams, serving as strategic communications subject matter expert; provides feedback on the needs and issues of the audience to influence deliverables.
- Identifies opportunities where communications can help advance strategy, initiate change, address issues or strengthen alignment or collaboration and deliver communication programs/messages to achieve goals.
- Understands the communications needs of various internal audiences; develops, executes, and evaluates key employee communications strategies, programs, messaging frameworks, that are impactful and lead to desired outcomes.
- Serves as backup for the Manager of Retail Communications and Knowledge Management.
Content Management Systems Strategy and Maintenance
- Oversee the strategy, governance and maintenance for content management systems (CMS) used for internal communications.
- Ensure the CMS is optimized for user experience and supports the organization's communications needs.
- Drives new approaches to deliver communications in more efficient and effective ways by challenging processes and recommending new approaches.
Data Insights/Reporting
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of internal communication efforts and recommend improvements based on feedback and analytics.
- Provide regular reports and insight to leadership on communication performance.
- Use data to identify trends and recommend improvements to internal communication strategies.
- Develop and implement metrics to measure the impact of communication initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree from an Accredited University
- 5 Years Experience in corporate and/or employee communications role with demonstrated experience defining and managing communications strategy
- 4 Years Experience creating content in a variety of formats, including online articles, email, videos, infographics, face-to-face meetings, scripts, manager messages, graphics, FAQs, talking points and newsletters
- 3 Years Experience with SharePoint and Adobe Creative Suite (or similar content management and graphics tools)
- 2 Years Experience working directly with leadership and senior executives
- 2 Years Experience with Intranet strategy, development and management
Work Best Category: Category C - Days in the office will either be designated days or will vary week to week from 2-5 days
Hours: 8:00am - 5:00pm Monday - Friday
